Yeah, like Pepper.

I'm already on the bus. P/O'd him the first day. I passed on Widow, Hawkeye and Fury but I just couldn't on this one. I mean, it's Coulson!

Heh, I'm a new collector, and I started with Loki - the pics of the figure blew me away - but Coulson was the one I really really was hoping for. I've already ordered/gotten Fury, Hawkeye and the Widow. And once I knew they were going to release Coulson, I had to order Cap so Coulson would have somebody to fanboy over :wink1: Still hoping to be able to afford Thor, Hulk and a Mark VI or Mark VII Iron Man... we'll see.

For HT $175 is as cheap as it gets. Most other figures are $50 to $100 more.

Original Mark I = $160

Mark III Iron Man = $160

New Goblin = $155 (now sells below retail)

Casual Bruce Lee(s) = $155 (also sell below retail)

Blade = $165

Brando Godfather = $165

Odin, Tereus, City Hunter, Platoon, etc.

But hey . . . never let reality get in the way of a good story. :lol

It's not how much it cost to make it's about how much you enjoy the character. All of this stuff is way overpriced.

I can understand how a newly tooled mold for an IM armor would cost HT more to produce, especially if the mold can't be re-used on another figure.
I can understand how a likeness license for Jack Nicholson would bump up the price of a figure.

But there's nothing special about Coulson's simple suit or TruType body, and Clark Gregg isn't a Brando, Dean, or Nicholson. He's third tier at best, a supporting actor from a crap sitcom at worst.

If this fig wasn't released as an exclusive, then it would possibly be another fig selling for less than retail within a few months, despite the fanboy service the character receives.

Your mileage may vary. :peace

LOL indeed. Blade and Brando were $165... three years ago! Casual Bruce has a chair and sunglasses, but Coulson blows that out of the water. The rest of those figures only have a fraction of demand that Coulson does (not many care about a casual Bruce Lee), and remember the accessories, license fees.

Subzro is dead on. $175 is the cheapest you'd hope to expect nowadays. These things are priced for profit... it's part of the hobby. $175 is the new minimum and for many this is insane, but again welcome to the world of adult collectibles. We'd all like more affordable prices, but the reality is what again?

You don't think Coulson is worth it, okay. You come up with an entirely irrelevant series of old figures, some of which were absolute flops as proof that a high quality fan favorite straight from a runaway blockbuster hit should be priced what... 20 dollars less? You'd buy it then right :slap? Then you cared enough to top it all off with that ****ty little remark.

Well I care too. :1-1: :thwak

Well I'm a tool.

I have a feeling this will be the most sought Avengers figure in years to come.

I would not be too concerned about it Frank. He had nothing cogent or reasonable to come back with so he posts crap. The hilarious part is that he actually had to searched out that, because he could not think of anything else.

:lol He got it from a Nam posting. :rotfl

It's all good though, I'm really not mad. I just thought he was off base. Wouldn't you know it, he took it badly. Oh that internet!

I'm still impressed we're even getting a shot at Coulson. It's gotta be a first for Hot Toys to crank out a side character like this. This is pure fan demand and it looks great going forward as a collector. Needless to say I'm stoked!

Price issues are a constant for this hobby, but the only thing in my mind that's going pressure HT into lower prices is straight up competition. With Enterbay virtually abandoning the fight at the 1/6 level, I don't see them letting up anytime soon. I've had to start focusing exclusively on 1/6 superheroes at the expense of some of my other interests. Honestly I'm kind of thankful for the limitation. Less money spent overall and less space taken up.

...[Terminator is looking pretty right, too. I dont need to be collecting more franchises! Damn it]
I felt the same way but decided to relent and picked-up the DX10 and pre-ordered the DX13 since they look pretty definitive to me and are all I need to represent the franchise. Only other figures I'd be interested in acquiring would be a police station assault Arnie from T1 and an endoskeleton (assuming they re-release it). Other than that, I don't feel I need John or Sarah Conner, the T1000 or anything related to T3 or Salvation. Three or five and you're done! :D

Edit: Added endo... forgot about how great the 1:4 version looks and would pick that up for sure if re-released in 1:6.

Hmm, I guess no one really knows what figures in years to come will sky rocket in price, I dont buy figures thinking that way anyway. I was lucky enough to pick up a HT Two Face about 1 1/2 years ago for about £90 now I see him nudging the £200 mark.

As for Agent Phil Coulson IDK to get him or not. I guess he would look good with my Iron Man stuff, As I am avoiding the Avengers line.
