Why would you think this? Every Black Widow has a unique head sculpt, as do the majority of HT releases.

Well the Winter Soldier BW and AoU BW is the same sculpt, just painted differently.

I think when displaying some of these figures, they don't really work with a real expressive face. Best option is having 2 sculpts, normal and then expressive. That way museum poses can be done and also action poses.

Consider me educated. I would have never guessed they were the same. I just did a side by side comparison and I'm sure you are right. The WS paint work is superior if you ask me.

So, maybe HT re-uses head sculpts more than I thought. I know some IM figures shared head sculpts, but not many others...other than Cap and Hulk maybe? I guess maybe AoU Thor too? I didn't order him, so I'm not following it closely. I was happy with my two Thors from Thor 2.

Yes, seems to happen occasionally. The WS Steve Rogers is also the same sculpt as the AoU version, but is newly painted. Thor's however is a brand new sculpt, this time with the mouth closed unlike the Dark World version.

I don't have any Thor's so I'll pick up the AoU one.

Yep. 50:50 on recycle or resculpt. They actually resculpted Fury, so there's a chance they will tweak SW's headsculpt for future releases, or just tweaked the hair and paint like BW.

I can't blame them with with so many Marvel movies with the same cast year after year. it's easy just to do some minor changes than to redo the whole thing.

And the majority of the figures from iron man are from the same film. So reused head makes sense. It should look like he just changed suits, not his face.

As for reused sculpts on others. Same principle. It's supposed to be the same person. And if they can reuse the tooling that makes all the business sense in the world. Despite popular belief the profit margins on these are not massive. They are not awful or anything. But they need to build that cushion in when then can, so when figures like tonto or jor el bomb they don't go out of business or have to lay people off, and they can continue to grow, have some cash on hand to buy new licensing and pay for those conventions(think about how much it costs to ship that stuff over night in secure crates, pay for 10-15 people to fly or hire locals..ect) and all the other bills. Most companies that do things with molds need (tooling) to reuse them on multiple releases or run huge numbers (hundreds of thousands of figures sometimes). So for a relatively small company like hot toys, anywhere they can create better margins (it's not just about the amount per figure made but the margins..) is something they have to do to stay competitive.

I would love to have new sculpts and dozens of accessories and JC hand paint every figure and all that stuff, just as much as the next guy. But that kinda figure could cost five times what a standard hot toys figure costs. Easily. If you think I'm full of it check out what someone charges for a custom 1 of 1 figure(and that's without the over head, the same bills, and licensing. Easily a grand. And I've yet to see anyone make a custom that has an in house made and repeatable body. So a custom is usually a head, some clothing, paint and a store bought body. So the top four or five costs that hot toys has to deal with most (most, not all) customized figures don't even have to worry about. And they charge two to seven times the cost.

I'm still impressed every figure with how much they get done for what really is (in comparison to what others can or do offer) a reasonable amount of money. Not saying they are cheap. They are not. But they offer a lot for what they charge.

And I'm not directing this at anyone. Just point of view.

Awww CRAP! I forgot about Ultron.

I'll wait until Ultron Prime begins shipping for an Ultimate Ultron announcement. If Ultimate still hasn't been announced, I'll probably get Prime. I should also mention I'm intentionally ignoring all of the other Ultron-related figures, as well as the Iron Legion drone. Not really interested in those.
