"Hrm, cool story, Princess, but I think I'll just test this here killer space station on your HOME PLANET. Thanks tho." -billions dead, Tarkin doesn't bat an eye.

He should have batted an eye when he oversaw the construction of the giant weapon he was blown up on.

I was a child of the original SW movies. I still don't think the PT is as bad as most people, except the first one. Probably my least fave, but i still watch it.

I'd like Kylo and Snoke to be something new, but i'd also like the Jedi to be something new. George turned the Jedi from the coolest thing to be in the OT, into the most boring thing imaginable in the PT. Just being a Jedi Knight was enough to turn anyone to the dark side.

Why do they have to grow beards...? Where will Rey grow her beard...? And why the dull outfits. Jedi Luke black was an awesome look, why not ditch the robes.

Please Mr Mickey Mouse if your reading this, make the Jedi exciting.

My sentiments as well. I actually quite like the PT, my least favorite being TPM, but I can still watch it. I really enjoyed Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon. Along with him, Obi-Wan and Darth Maul made that film. My least favorite part of it was Jake Lloyd as Anakin.

My favorite time in the galaxy were the days of the Old Republic, and RotS still remains my favorite episode out of the 7 episodes thus far. The lightsaber duels in the PT were outstanding.

What I find interesting, and incredibly frustrating, about these types of fans in this strange need to make any character you really like into the most-super-awesome-bestest-badassiest-evar, when all it really does is make that character less interesting. This happens in every fandom I've seen. Why do you need Darth Vader to be nigh-invincible space Jesus? He's really more interesting as this dangerous agent of the Empire with a tragic past, just a fallen knight. Why does the Emperor need to be Satan incarnate, when he can just be more interesting in that little paragraph in the prologue etc etc, this happens with SO many popular characters.

Because young boys always -- and I mean always -- want to know who's the BOSS. It's very important, its an innate thing. They want to know who's in charge, who calls the shots. If Vader has a boss, than that boss must be THE bad ass.

My nephew, who's now twelve, first thing he wanted confirmed was that Snoke was Kylo's boss. He asked if Snoke had a boss. Nope. So he's the boss, OK. I've seen this with so many little boys. I remember it when I was a little boy.

Some "boys" never outgrow it. They just change the term -- and ask "is he bad ass"?

You're not just challenging the opinion of most fans but rather the opinion of Lucas himself. That's why I detest "fans" like you. You write your own versions of Star Wars in your brains and bash everything that goes against your vision.

I don't even understand why you bothered to watch the prequels given that no matter what Lucas had done - it never would have matched what you hoped the backstory for this saga to be.

Space Jesus and Satan-incarnate are awesome backstories for Vader and Palpatine. It is beyond me how anyone can say that makes the characters "less interesting".

I could imagine Palpatine becoming complacent after the Empire was established. Devolving power to governors to crush what little resistance remained. While he himself presumably retired from the public scene to finally devote more time to the dark side of the force.

In his absence governors such as Tarkin rose to great power, standing up to and commanding Vader; and even Admiral Motti saying directly to Vader, "Don't try to frighten us with your sorcerer's ways, Lord Vader. Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped you conjure up the stolen data tapes, or given you clairvoyance enough to find the rebels' hidden fort-..."

The situation is similar to that presented in TFA, as Tarkin expresses: "The Jedi are extinct, their fire has gone out of the universe. You, my friend, are all that's left of their religion."

The Emperor isn't even regarded. If his real powers were known, they now appeared concealed from the masses just as they were during the Clone Wars.

Another point of interest in the "religion" that has become Star Wars (and I'm not using that word to insult anyone here, SKINT) is how its fans get quarantined into factions. On a very small real-time scale, you can see how religious fanaticism fractures societies and splinters into various groups... often over the smallest of trifles.

Case in point.

The Tarkin novel [which is canon] explicitly showcases how most of the Imperials don't know they're all working for a Sith. Like the Senators who believed Palpatine was just a victim of a Jedi coup in ROTS, the Imperials in the OT think Palpatine is just a former politician who appointed himself Emperor for the benefit of the Galaxy.

Holy **** i cant wait to get my figure so i can come in here less.

I just can't pull the trigger on this one. As much as I really enjoyed Driver's performance and the character. The exclusion of his likeness and the Vader helmet make these an ultimate pass for me.
Cmon man, just buy the HS from v2 on ebay when it hits thats what ill do. As much as HT likes to milk things we might not see another till ep8, which is 17 months away. (we have not even gotten a luke han or poe preorder yet) Then RO comes out in a year!!

It's totally because it's just a older man in a military uniform. Plus, most of the viewing audience doesn't know or care how cool it is that it's Peter Cushing. Christopher Lee had LOTR to help pump his popularity with younger audiences, but Cushing died much earlier.

There's got to be a reason Tarkin doesn't get much love. It's not a likeness thing because SS did a PF. Maybe he's too "plain"...?

They could do a 2-pack with the Death Star Gunner. Basically their selling strategy for the IM3 Pepper Potts.

Like a Hasbro salute 2-pack.

I actually would like a DS Gunner. But I'd have to control myself.

The one Imperial officer I'd just have to buy is one of those Death Squad Guards or Death Star Guards, not sure what they ultimately got called anymore. The ones on the detention level with the flared Vader helmets.

No, but you would need his chair. And that might look odd without that massive table with the little Death Star ornament in the center. So yeah, maybe you need the crew.
