Definitely. I remember when they first announced "Episode 7" my first thought was "I hope it has nothing to do with the Sith." :lol

Exactly. I dont have a problem with the idea of the Sith at all, but TFA was enough of a rehashing as it is, let's let the bad guys have a bit of mystery.

Here we go. You're using in universe details to make a point about the Sith being important to the OT. The Sith are present all throughout the OT only in your own mind. The filmmakers had none of those ideas or backstories, they were tacked on later.

In my own mind? Hilarious.

I guess you weren't aware that George Lucas, who wrote the PT, also wrote the OT.

Shocked?

We already had Revenge of the Sith now fans want "Revenge of the Sith...Again" Episode 8.

I think I'll just watch TFA again. I just love that scene where Maz brings up the Sith.

Has anyone actually argued that the Sith are a thing? Everyone knows the Sith are a things. There is a movie named after them. Which is why Luke defeating them for good is all the more powerful.

The straw man arguments probably don't need to happen.

Great picture, paramoremcr88!

And for the record, I'm completely open to and like the idea of KR and Snoke mysteriously considering themselves something else and seemingly attempting to start a new type of faction, not considering themselves being affiliated with the Sith in any way. Practiotioners of the dark side, obviously, but in what capacity remains to be seen.

I wonder if they will save the Adam sculpt as a toy fare exclusive. With melted Vader helmet of course.

I just can't pull the trigger on this one. As much as I really enjoyed Driver's performance and the character. The exclusion of his likeness and the Vader helmet make these an ultimate pass for me.

To me the Emperor was a Satanic demon. The Dark Side Incarnate. Since Vader was the Dark Lord of the Sith and the Emperor was his boss, I made assumptions that he was part of the Sith too.

Back in the beginning, when Alan Dean Foster wrote the Prologue to the novelization, he didn't write the Emperor as all powerful:

ANOTHER galaxy, another time.

The Old Republic was the Republic of legend, greater than distance or time. No need to note where it was or whence it came, only to know that… it was the Republic.

Once, under the wise rule of the Senate and the protection of the Jedi Knights, the Republic throve and grew. But as often happens when wealth and power pass beyond the admirable and attain the awesome, there appear those evil ones who have greed to match.

So it was with the Republic at its height. Like the greatest of trees, able to withstand any external attack, the Republic rotted from within though the danger was not visible from outside.

Aided and abetted by restless, power-hungry individuals within the government, and the massive organs of commerce, the ambitious Senator Palpatine caused himself to be elected President of the Republic. He promised to reunite the disaffected among the people and to restore the remembered glory of the Republic.

Once secure in office he declared himself Emperor, shutting himself away from the populace. Soon he was controlled by the very assistants and boot-lickers he had appointed to high office, and the cries of the people for justice did not reach his ears.

Having exterminated through treachery and deception the Jedi Knights, guardians of justice in the galaxy, the Imperial governors and bureaucrats prepared to institute a reign of terror among the disheartened worlds of the galaxy. Many used the imperial forces and the name of the increasingly isolated Emperor to further their own personal ambitions.

But a small number of systems rebelled at these new outrages. Declaring themselves opposed to the New Order they began the great battle to restore the Old Republic.

From the beginning they were vastly outnumbered by the systems held in thrall by the Emperor. In those first dark days it seemed certain the bright flame of resistance would be extinguished before it could cast the light of new truth across a galaxy of oppressed and beaten peoples…

I was a child of the original SW movies. I still don't think the PT is as bad as most people, except the first one. Probably my least fave, but i still watch it.

I'd like Kylo and Snoke to be something new, but i'd also like the Jedi to be something new. George turned the Jedi from the coolest thing to be in the OT, into the most boring thing imaginable in the PT. Just being a Jedi Knight was enough to turn anyone to the dark side.

Why do they have to grow beards...? Where will Rey grow her beard...? And why the dull outfits. Jedi Luke black was an awesome look, why not ditch the robes.

Please Mr Mickey Mouse if your reading this, make the Jedi exciting.

Yeah I remember that. Made him out to be an almost Theoden-like character.

Apart from that one line the rest pretty much fits in with where the films went.

And, realistically, a vast empire can only be ruled through local governors as the Emperor can't be everywhere. By the time we see the Emperor on film we might assume that he's emerged from that isolation...

I hear the scamper of Sith kids coming for you with EU evidence to the contrary and character-assassination of Foster ready.

What I find interesting, and incredibly frustrating, about these types of fans in this strange need to make any character you really like into the most-super-awesome-bestest-badassiest-evar, when all it really does is make that character less interesting. This happens in every fandom I've seen. Why do you need Darth Vader to be nigh-invincible space Jesus? He's really more interesting as this dangerous agent of the Empire with a tragic past, just a fallen knight. Why does the Emperor need to be Satan incarnate, when he can just be more interesting in that little paragraph in the prologue etc etc, this happens with SO many popular characters.
