I thought that fight in Phantom was much better than that fight at the end of TFA. Its trendy to rip the prequels, but they felt more like Star Wars to me than TFA does. And I like TFA a lot, but its more Star Wars Into Darkness than Star Wars. I guess it helps that I do like those 2 new Star Trek movies a LOT, so the fact that this feels more like them to me totally sits fine with me, just making an observation.

I think TFA is way more in line with the Star Wars I know and love than the prequels were. There is so much ******** politics in the prequel trilogy. TFA didn't have jedi's doing crazy backflips and **** but I think that is ok, I liked that they toned it down. Especially since Rey and Kylo both aren't well trained.

I'm not sure if you've watched The Clone Wars series and Star Wars Rebels but I also think Rebels feels WAY more like Star Wars than the clone wars ever did.

It's threads like this one that have me wishing for the old "ratings" option from way back when. Before the dark side, before the newbies...

:monkey3

I have decided to wait for the Kylo Ren 2.0 figure, instead... :monkey5

I agree with you about Rebels feeling more like Star Wars. I don't love the animation style but I'm getting used to it the more I watch it. They're really making an effort to fill in the blanks between the PT and OT, especially by introducing the old charters we love. I watched the new episode last night that featured Leia on one of her "mercy missions" that we've only heard Vader refer to. If the writers can keep up the quality this series might really be something special.

Oh, and since they've mentioned that Rebels will tie into The Force Awakens, I'm leaning more towards the idea that Snoke is really the Grand Inquisitor. We never saw a body when Kanan defeated him and his injuries he suffered from the fall/explosion would make sense with what we saw of him in TFA.

Sorry if I derailed the thread. Kylo Ren is an amazing figure. I still haven't been able to find that one pose I'm happy with. He looks awesome with the ignited saber but I like my Jedi/Sith/Dark Force users to either have the hilt on their belts or just holding the hilt. Anyone else have any pics they could share?

Anyone try taking off the top part of his cloak? My favourite look in the he movie was without the hood.
I may have to try it

There are pics around the web of this, the cloak is only held on with 2 small strings and is easily detached without harming the figure.

I hope there isn't another super weapon period; even if it were a super weapon based around the force it would still be rather repetitive and dull. Star Wars can work perfectly fine without a super weapon to blow up at the end of the film; look at TESB, the best film of all. No super weapon.

I don't think we're going to see a super weapon in either of the next two films. The First Order, Republic and Resistance were all essentially wiped out by the end of TFA. The First Order probably has a few remote bases and a small navy but the bulk of their fleet and forces went up when Starkiller imploded/exploded.

I think we're going to see more smaller conflicts and with the focus being on the main characters this time around. The "origin story" is out of the way for the new characters so now we get on with their stories.

I just find it odd that people actually believe major creative decisions about these movies are made in some boardroom of Disney executives.

This is 100% Kathleen Kennedy's show. She, her Lucasfilm Story Group (under Kiri Hart) and the filmmakers, writers and producers they hire are in complete creative control. Quit with the "But this is Disney" nonsense. Kennedy actually wields more power within the Disney empire than Marvel's Kevin Fiege. And after the success of TFA that's not going to change. :lol

Trust me, Disney is content with just running the Marketing and Merchandising and counting the money. They're letting LFL (under Kennedy) run these films creatively. It's very similar to Pixar and Marvel in that regard.
That's not what Lucas said. :lol doubt Kennedy would ignore uncle George, or that he would refer to her as a white slaver that he sold his children to?
And he referenced Disney directly, they own LF now. Even to the point where they are looking for an Asian actress to up profits in China. Marketing dictating script and casting choices.
Disney has more direct influence because LF is Disney. Bob iger is personally involved, it's not like the Marvel deal/relationship at all?

I honestly don't give a **** who is making the creative decisions or doing what, whether it's a single person, a committee, a boardroom with executives looking to maximize merchandise sales, TFA was fantastic IMHO and they just need to keep them coming.

Got my processing notice too :rock

Got my notice too...I'll be traveling when this one ships, so it'll be a while longer before I get to experience this figure, but if the great shots that have been showing up in here are any indication, it'll be well worth the wait.

I just hope everyone else who's got this one coming posts lots of pictures (please)!

Kennedy reports directly the Bob Iger, but to this point he and Alan Horn have been content to let her, the LFL Story Group and the filmmakers she hires have full creative control over these movies. Disney's main influence up to now is in Marketing and Merchandising. They're more than happy to stay back and let Lucasfilm and the production teams actually make the films. And after the smashing success of TFA that's not likely to change.

Are we rating the Star Wars movies?

The Phantom Menace 6/10
Attack of the Clones 5/10
Revenge of the Sith 8/10
A New Hope 8/10
Empire Strikes Back 8/10
Return of the Jedi 9/10
The Force Awakens 10/10

:)

Empire Strikes Back is such a fantastic film.

One thing I didn't like in TFA is it was so much action, there wasn't time to breathe. All Star War films invoked some stillness that I really loved, even in the Prequels.

What the hell!

ESB: 10/10 - My all time favorite movie hands down.
ANH: 9/10
ROTJ: 8/10 - How I wish Kirshner would have directed this. What could have been. :(
ROTS: 8/10
TFA: 7/10 - I find it difficult to rate TFA. Episodes 8 & 9 could make or break it.
TPM: 6/10
AOTC: 4/10

To try and stay somewhat on topic, I'm just waiting for this to be in stock so I can use my Amazon gift cards to pay for it. :)
