One of the reasons i don't really care for Kylo's character is the mask. Vader wore his mask to stay alive. It was necessary for his breathing, etc. Kylo's serves no other purpose than making his voice sound different. No actual lenses to enhance vision. Unnecessary for breathing. He wears it to basically say, "Look at me, I'm a bad guy. Can't you tell by my voice changer?" He's a wannabe Vader in every possible way. Lame.

He can't even build a correct lightsaber. Just some rigged up custom. Lame. Meme all you want. He'll always be a wannabe.

1) The mask is for the same reason Boba Fett, Captain Phasma, Stormtroopers wear masks. It makes them more ominous. And he will be removing the helmet.

2) It's not rigged up and custom. He built it based on an ancient design. As stated by JJ.

3) I really really really can't wait to hear from the "wannabe Vader" people after they see a very specific scene takes place.

Again, stormtroopers and Captain Phasma are combat soldiers. They have need of a helmet to protect their head. Boba Fett is also under fire as a bounty hunter, not to mention his helmet has visual and comm enhancement. Kylo's does NONE of this. It may be ancient but it's still totally unnecessary except to say "Oooh, look at me! I 'm a bad guy!"

I know a lot about this film. You clearly know nothing about this film.

Oh i know all about it too. Still doesn't change the facts. In fact, i'v been collecting this stuff for over 40 years, probably before you were born. So i'd say i know a little more than you do.

I literally have no idea what you collecting stuff has to do with how a character is used in a movie. But alright.

And just based on things you think about Kylo Ren, there is no way you have read through the leaked call sheet that MF and MSW have been leaking for months now.

At least wait to see the movie first before griping about the character. We know next to nothing about him, lol.

I'm not griping per se about his character other than the use of the helmet for just looks. I could care less whether he ends up being related to the Solos or Skywalkers or anyone else. My only gripe is that Disney added this mask as some kind of Vader throwback and i find that it makes the character unappealing for that reason. He can be a sith or sith-in-training without the need for a helmet that serves no purpose.

I have indeed read all the leaked info and supposed scripts out there. And none of them have placed any significant necessity on Kylo's helmet. He was one of the Knights of Ren. Whoopee. Still doesn't create a need for the helmet with no function. And in 40 years you can be sure i am fully vested in my Star Wars knowledge, past AND present.

Did the assumption fairy sprinkle you with conjecture dust while you slept last night?

There are no leaked scripts. And there is way more to his character than being "one of the knights of ren".

Ok, "synopsis" leaks. I'm not going to argue with you. Go back to loving the character all you want. Until you can provide a legitimate reason for the helmet, my first post stands.

He's obsessed with Vader! I would figure the helmet is a homage to Vader and protection during battle......not like he will be sitting on the side lines giving orders, he leads his troops.

A call sheet is not a synopsis leak either. It's from the scheduling sheet that lists every set shot in the film. I'm not providing anything because I am not going to ruin the film for people who are unspoiled. I have PM'd the link to other members have requested it. But this close to the film there is no point in ruining it. Because you clearly don't know what happens in this film.

Why did Darth Revan wear a mask? (Not related to the movie just mentioning another fan favorite character)

Did you see the mask? Did you see those scratches and overall damage? Something is telling me he has a reason to wear a mask/helmet lol

Do you saw the mask? Did you see those scratches and overall damage? Something is telling me he has a reason to wear a mask/helmet lol

Yes i saw the damage. If it's meant to protect him in battle then why no eye protection other than a veil of cloth? If i was a soldier and you handed that piece of crap to me i'd hand it right back. And why the voice changer? Did he lose his voice? He doesn't need it to breathe like Vader? Ooh look, it's the scary sith. His voice makes me so scared.

Exactly! Jal says it's ok for Stormtroopers and Phasma to wear them but Kylo is the Commander of First Order missions as stated by official releases. He goes into battle.
