Ok, i'm done replying to all the posts on this. The bottom line is Disney threw in this helmet just to play off of Vader. Until evidence is shown that this helmet actual serves some kind of legitimate purpose i'm done posting about it. If if was to protect in battle, then it's a crappy helmet as there is no eye protection. The voice changer is unnecessary completely except to make you think of Vader. If he's so powerful in the dark side, he shouldn't need a helmet in the first place. So go on giving excuses for the helmet but until a legit reason is given i'm done.

Plenty of powerful darkside users have been in the star wars universe with various forms of masks/helmets. They also server as a form of identity concealment and intimidation.

Disney didn't do any work on this film, so I have no idea what that's even supposed to mean. Everyone has said they let JJ make his film with basically no involvement. The character modeled his helmet after Vader's in homage. For reasons we will find out in the films.

As far as the cloth over the eye complaint.... really? I had a Halloween costume with an all black mask that I could see through perfectly. It kept me warm, kept the dust and wind out of my eyes, and concealed my identity. All three things are easily applied to why Kylo has the same thing.

One of the reasons i don't really care for Kylo's character is the mask. Vader wore his mask to stay alive. It was necessary for his breathing, etc. Kylo's serves no other purpose than making his voice sound different. No actual lenses to enhance vision. Unnecessary for breathing. He wears it to basically say, "Look at me, I'm a bad guy. Can't you tell by my voice changer?" He's a wannabe Vader in every possible way. Lame.

No. Notice the battle damage on the helmet. He clearly uses it in battle and to protect himself. I would reckon that helmet has saved his life a few times already. Plus he is obsessed with Vader. From the robes, to the boots, to his hair and to the mask, they are all in homage to Vader/Anakin.

They have them because they are soldiers under fire. Kylo is a command figure is not endangered by enemy fire. Also, a mask is not necessary for a sith. The emperor, Count Dooku, Vader when he was still Anakin......all these were in command without unnecessary helmets. Kylo only wears it to try to be as badass as Vader and he is not. He is a wannabe.

You must know nothing about Sith history then if you think Siths don't wear masks. Do some research and get back to me.

Also, did you watch the trailer? Kylo landed in the middle of a battlefield. Was he just going to sit there? No, he went off to fight clearly. He is shown a few times in small battle scenes in the trailer and you think he does nothing?

He can't even build a correct lightsaber. Just some rigged up custom. Lame. Meme all you want. He'll always be a wannabe.

Again, stormtroopers and Captain Phasma are combat soldiers. They have need of a helmet to protect their head. Boba Fett is also under fire as a bounty hunter, not to mention his helmet has visual and comm enhancement. Kylo's does NONE of this. It may be ancient but it's still totally unnecessary except to say "Oooh, look at me! I 'm a bad guy!"

Plenty of siths didn't wear masks. In fact prior to the rule of two, the majority, if not all, didn't wear masks. There are a few exceptions and those that did have masks or helmets the serve a purpose besides hiding their identity.

I never said he does nothing. But Jedi and Sith both fought through the clone wars in real battle, not ravaging a village of civilians, WITHOUT masks.

What difference does it make if i find one or one hundred things wrong with his character? The voice changer IS part of the mask.

MMhmm, i'm a ****** because i have an opinion and it doesn't go with the rest of the "elite" on this forum. And it would have been dismissed except that everyone keeps stirring the pot. I was done until people keep bringing it back up. I'm not here to gain rep and kudos from anyone.
