I almost wish the cannibal makeup was on a smiling face, that way you could "remember this as the day you almost.....Captain Jack Sparrow."

V2 kills V1 in the likeness department. It's sad to say but I have a very hard time seeing Depp in version 1. No worries though, as I am a huge Pirates/Depp fan I will own them all! :rock :lol

Damage.. Ia m starting to want to collect this line now. I just love that finger necklace soo much... hmmmmmm...... :dunno

Same here Pixie. The overall aesthetics of the figure are just pure eye candy. All the detail and stuff going on has me really wanting this figure. But not necessarily to collect the line.

I was blown away by the fact that HT put real metal rings into one of the trinkets hanging off the end of one of his dreads, could easily have been plastic molded by they went the extra mile and it looks so nice.

I'm buying two jacks to display one Cannibal and one smilin'. What will bug me is that the smiling base will say "Cannibal Jack Sparrow" most likely or if I buy a second stand that says Jack Sparrow from the AWE version it'll say AWE on it....I'm kinda OCD that way....:monkey2

I love this figure even more after just watching POTC: DMC to gear up for AWE on DVD tomorrow. The downside is that I'm finding myself kind of wanting a Will figure now....

After watching Davy Jones on screen again I'll have to say he might be the most advanced undertaking for Hot Toys yet. His design and clothes are just *so* intricate and complicated what the the various textures, barnacles, and so forth. I'd love to see them give him a try (as I know everyone else does.)

Actually in that scene his face make-up was already pretty smeared. I wonder though, will Cannibal Jack have a removeable headdress? Because most of his running around on the island (and most memorable scenes) were without it.

Ahoy -- my AWE Jack is shipping. Might have him by Thursday or Friday.

Maulfan, is there anything I should know or be forewarned about?

Not particularly. With his interchangeable right hands, don't bother trying to force them on to make the peg go into the slot, I find the wrist bands are so tight the hands stay on just fine without it. Other than that, just check the jacket to make sure none of the buttons fall off and you'll want to futz with his clothes, especially the Sash, to get his look going just right, maybe even water treat the sash, I don't know, I get nervous about red stripes and white cloth. Otherwise, it's pretty much out of the box and ready to roll. One thing I'm not a fan of is the base body though, you'll find the shoulder joints almost seem like they're out of the sockets, they're just really wide on this Hot Toys body. Oh, and he is taller than you'd expect too. I have Elizabeth shipping this week, so I'll be able to compare within the line better then, I wasn't investing in Sao, no matter how nice the sculpt and costume, not a fan of the character to spend that kind of money. You'll be really impressed with how nice the soft hair works, it doesn't look cheap, yet it's very flexible so you can do lots with the head articulation.

Didn't someones jacket fall apart when they tried to dye it? So water-treatment might be a bit tricky.

Excellent, Thanks!

I was considering dying the coat in a quick dab of forest green dye -- at least to my eyes his coat seem to have a dark greenish tint -- but I read somewhere that it was not adviseable (murderofcrows I think tried it).

Anyway, I will definitely use the water treatment on him. I don't mind if the sash bleeds a bit, might look more realistic. I'll check the buttons first, but I think that happened because murderofcrows tried to bleach the coat first. Bleach will eat right through glue. No bleaching for me, just maybe a little dye bath in tepid water. And WT with room temp water should be fine.

One thing I absolutely have to fix is that light tan suede belt! Got to dirty it up a bit, it's way too bright for Sparrow. Everything else seems pretty dead on.

If I can solve the coat and belt issue, he's perfect.

Yes, you don't need it for the jacket anyhow, but the damage was done attempting to make the jacket color more film accurrate. The only thing really needing water treatment is the sash, it's pretty straight looking out of the box, though the edges are worn and it actually has a fair ammount of subtle dirty spots to it, a little more worn out looking than the one that came with Medi, though the HT sash is also stiffer material than the Medi sash, so some manner of softening it up might help it too.

THat's about how I feel, I'm ok with the belt, but the jacket kinda saddened me. Of Medicom and Hot Toys, Medicom is better because black is closer in color and the material is about the same. Hot Toys' proto Jacket looked damn near perfect in every way, I was let down to see the production Jacket especially when HT ususally does nothing but improve from their protos. Shawn from Sovereign Studios did a great Jack coat for a custom Jack he did for Creecher, I'm actually trying to get a hold of Shawn about maybe making another of the jacket, it's just like Sparrow's, if I had that with the Hot Toys figure it'd be sick looking. As for buttons falling off, I have on button missing but I think it just might never have made it on at the factory, it's subtle so I didn't care too much, but something to point out to fellow collectors.

What better way to enjoy Hot Toys Jack Sparrow, watching At World's End right now :)

And Miss Swann has shipped :rock

Let us know how that goes, as I might be interested in getting a Sparrow jacket from him as well.
