Is that cape material even accurate? Looks more like cloth this time.
Nope. The outer layer should reflect light the same way the suit and cowl do to give the appearance of rubber/leather. The fact that it doesn’t do so makes it appear like a refractive fabric by contrast.

The cape in the film looked different in scenes, dunno if they actually used different capes of different materials or lighting just made it seem that way. Sometimes it looked more fabric, sometimes clearly leather, other times like a parachute material. The 2.0 cape looks like they did what Jaxon did, some fabric material that tried to simulate a slight sheen look of leather.

There were so many capes used…some where extra long like he was running ..some were thinner for the stuntmen to fight in the fight scenes. They even gave Keaton a cape that just touched his lower back but it stopped there so he can be comfortable sitting in the Batmobile . In Axis chemical scene Burton said they used a gymnast and Ballerena for the scenes were Batman was gliding in the air so that also needed capes with wires attached to it . If Keaton Bats was just standing in place that too was a completely different cape

Basically 89 suit was bush league in it’s original design …that’s why Burton wanted a new design for BR…only then he felt it needed to look more like a bat and more like armor

Played with the tones a bit to better show how realistic this looks. I think the relaxed lips are what makes it look different. They’re still shaped well, just not upturned and froze. The crystal clear eye visibility might also be effecting it.

I still find the 2.0 lip shape and size is closer to Keaton. But it's pretty obviously slightly smirking. Should have had the third mouth plate have a fully neutral lip position, which is how he looks the majority of the film.

if you want to know a little bit more about Carl Newman, the dancer who was the movement double of Michael Keaton.

How thick is the rubber suit on the 1.0? Is it possible to sand it down? Someone’s bound to try it.
