I also can't wait to own Zira, Cornelius, Zaius and Caesar from Hot Toys. They'd better make ALL of those, at least! :rock

And my ranking of the series is:

1) POTA (I doubt this is even debatable)

2) Conquest (so underrated, especially the Uncut version)

3) Beneath (some of the mutant stuff annoys me, but it's overall a worthy sequel. And, wow, that ending)

4) Escape (worth it for the shocking 3rd Act alone)

5) Battle (Definitely the weakest, but there is some solid stuff in there.)

I find it interesting that the gorilla soldier has glyphs on his bandolier. I may be wrong but wasn't Marcus (the hunt leader form the first film) the only gorilla to sport glyphs on the bandolier? I believe there are supposed to be glyphs on his back side as well.

If that is true than he is more than just a gorilla soldier... those glyphs designate a higher rank.

Holy crap! The nerd meter readings are off the chart!

;)

Cool, thnx.

I will pick up POTA and Beneath on amazon.

Just get one of these and you're completely covered.......

I just wish HT would get the LotR license from Sideshow. These figures are great! I'm happy for you Apes fans!

From the looks of the pics, the Hot Toys hair is the same stuff as on that bust. Great for gorilla's, not so much for bearded Taylor. I wonder what they're gonna do.

These thing are so real that if they don't smell like poop and aren't crawling with nits I'd be shocked. All, and I mean ALL, film licenses must go to Hot Toys. Outstanding.

I have this and it's awesome looking. Kinda smells, but....he is an ape. :lol

Yep, I have it too. I thought it was me that smells, but you may just be right. It does love dust and very tiny spiders love it too. Going to go and have a sniff now. :wave

I'm knocked out by these. Just amazing.
I really hope '09 is a better year financially. I'd really like to get a couple of these.
If I had to get only one it would be Ursus.

Not to diss SS but I really like how HT is giving their gorilla soldier raised pleats (or whatever they are called) details on the tunic and the blue-ish color, unlike SS's black color and just stitching to suggest details.

I'm not sure how I feel about the real hair. It's really hit or miss at times. It can get poofy. The production pix are bordering on being a little too poofy but I'll reserve final judgement until I see the final product.
I don't mind sculpted hair and I think SS's head sculpt on their Gorilla soldier came out pretty good.

Now if HT really wants to go the extra mile, they should have slightly different face sculpts for the gorillas to reflect the different masks/appliances used in the movie.
That would be amazing if they could pull that off. But, I know it would just increase costs.

I'm an ape fan from way back, so I'm so amazed to see the progression in the quality of the collectibles. From the original Megos (which I'll always love) to Hasbro (meh) to SS (still very cool) and now HT.
It's a bad time to be poor and an POTA fan. :(

They hair looks like the kind that can be shaped and will stick together. As opposed to the hair the Hasbro figures had which was too much like a barbie. I think the stuff they are using will work really well :rock

What an interesting variety of simians in the collection. And soon to be more!!
All we need now is some new "Ape Art" to commemorate this great event!!

I have to say it's going to be very hard to be choosey with this line... Ursus is a definite and I want to only get either the Captain or regular soldier, but the idea of choosing one is too difficult :monkey2

Wow, what a great plan... hey, wait a minute, that's a terrible idea :lol

I am hoping these come in at $120 instead of $150+... but I'm not too confident about that.
