Re: Hot Toys Terminator: Salvation-John Connor- spec + hi-res pics

I think the head sculpt turned out great, very close to the original prototype. Mostly what I'm seeing different is a loss in facial detail which would most likely be due to the lighting. You can tell that the in hand shots have a lot of light reflection on the painted areas like the eyebrows and hair, but the lighting on the Toy Hunters display pics doesn't have this. To me this says the light is washing out the subtle facial details of the transparent skin in the latest pics.
Looks damn good to me. I really hope I can buy this when released.

Re: Hot Toys Terminator: Salvation-John Connor- spec + hi-res pics

Yeah, lighting is very important to seeing some of the detail on these things. Hell, if you don't light Dutch just right there's a lot you don't see on him but in hand there is a great ammount of detail work on his face.

Important thing is that we'll all get a better looking figure, it take some big cahones to admit to a mistake so :duff to hot toys for owning up to it, and bringing us some good quality control.

Re: Hot Toys Terminator: Salvation-John Connor- spec + hi-res pics

It's almost as if the factory decided his face was too bumpy and decided to smooth it out without consulting HT.

If they have to retool the head to fix it, it's going to be very expensive. But I'm glad they've decided to redo it, if it improves the final figure we receive.

Re: Hot Toys Terminator: Salvation-John Connor- spec + hi-res pics

I honestly don't see what's bad about the figure to require this.

I see skin texture, texture to the hair, I'm not sure what people feel is missing that even HT is willing to apologize and correct.

Re: Hot Toys Terminator: Salvation-John Connor- spec + hi-res pics

I agree Maulfan, I've been for this figure all along. I think it looks great and don't get the big deal. If it turns out better than that's cool but if it stays the same I'm still getting it.

Re: Hot Toys Terminator: Salvation-John Connor- spec + hi-res pics

Don't get me wrong, better is always nice, but there's been times something is beyond obviously subpar or off and doesn't get corrected in this manner, and then there's this situation where I'm really not even able to see a reason for what's happening and it is happening.

I'm just really confused by this situation.

Either way, you have to love a company that...

1) always listens to their customers and will actually do research, checking out all the forums including our's. Reading what we have to say. Caring about what is on our minds concerning their products, and what makes us tick as collectors.

2) Highly competitive. If they know another company is coming out with a similar product around the same time, they will up their game to make certain their product is the very best, and do this without changing the cost.

3) They are always willing to improve the product, even when it is released. If people complain, they don't ignore their collector base, but actually nurture it by listening and responding by doing stuff like this.

This has to be the best toy company I know of. They are simply awesome. I lived with people from Hong Kong for half my life, so I am not surprised by their hard work, their consideration, and just the commitment to come out with the best end result. btw They were part of an exchange program and my family would always take them in. We have had exchange students live with us for over a decade. Well, "did" is the key word, as that has been put to an end since the brother has moved in and the rents have a new home. STFU Eli! Will do!

Re: Hot Toys Terminator: Salvation-John Connor- spec + hi-res pics

HT's doing a good thing here, but they're not without flaw.

Re: Hot Toys Terminator: Salvation-John Connor- spec + hi-res pics

Maybe they are apologizing for the fact they said they were going to change the sculpt and didn't, and these originals managed to slip out and the new heads coming? At least I hope that's it.

Re: Hot Toys Terminator: Salvation-John Connor- spec + hi-res pics

Yeah HT has had WAY bigger problems with other figures and are fixing this one when honestly the "non picky" collector would buy it up in a heart beat.

Great to hear! Hot Toys is the ^^^^!

I was disappointed by the way Conner turned out, it just doesn't look right. If Hot Toys is willing to stop production and re-do it, then something truly was off/wrong.

Actually this makes alot of sense, maybe not end up being true but does fit in to the whole situation.

That scenario would make sense, other than that, it seems like all that could be different is some paint or skin texturing, and I just can't imagine doing this extreme a thing over that when plenty of figures haven't lived up to expectation in paint apps.

Yeah that is a valid point. That could be it or maybe it's just the lighting ppl are using that's making it look so off :dunno You might be on point though.

This could be true. Maybe they don't have problems with this sculpt as much as they had a new one they wanted to use like Wofford was saying. Or maybe there was some sort of problem with it that they felt absolutley had to change it. Like I said I'm not disapointed in the original one. Is there room for improvment? Yes. Does it absolutley positively need it? No. IMHO.

Oh and let me add that the only thing that I don't like about it is how they made him all clean. I would prefer a dirty, sweaty version of him. So I'll have to add that myself or have an expert on here do it for me :D
