I don't mind hearing that characters are good in films but I really don't wanna hear if a character is disappointing. :( That I hate. I'd rather discover the disappointment myself.

Agreed. I think the best policy overall is if you have to say something after seeing the film, just say "I loved it" or something. Keep it vague, generic. Let people experience it for themselves without going in thinking "Oh I can't wait but I'm nervous about {x character} being disappointing"

Even then, I think people should have the fortitude to be able to shrug off the opinions of others, regardless of what they say, before having seen a film. Don't let the opinions of others dictate whether or not you like a film.

All that matters is if it was good to you or not, now how good or bad it was to someone else. That's THEIR opinion. Form your own after having seen it. Take the film for what it is intended to be and not what you want it to be. :)

I usually say: 1) IF I liked it: You're in for a treat. 2) IF I didn't rate it so highly or indeed really disliked it: Speak to me after you watched it. :lol

Yeah that's fair :lol Maybe I'm just super anxious of others opinions because I'm really excited for the movie :rotfl

I know what you mean. I can relate.

I was like that with MoS. Being a staunch Superman fan, I was really excited for the film. Heck, even before the film was even announced, if one were to ask me how I felt that Superman needed to be approached in today's world, it actually was just about identical to what they actually indeed did with MoS. That being the case, I was excited because it almost felt like my same idea was being made. As the film got closer and the critics weren't giving it favorable initial reviews, I was getting more and more anxious and concerned because I essentially wanted to read that it was the best thing since sliced bread, so to speak.

On the day I was to see the film, I was telling the person I was going with about all the negative reviews it seemed to be garnering thus far and they responded by essentially saying to not worry what others say; all that matters is if it's good to YOU or not. Went and saw the film for myself with an open mind, not worrying about what any critics had said up until that point and utterly loved it, and liked it even more with each subsequent viewing. I couldn't fathom as to what movie they saw because I personally felt like I saw something completely different than what they wrote about.

So the point is not to form an opinion about a film based on the opinions of other people who have seen it, because that's all it is; their opinion. Go in with an open mind and form your own opinion based on what YOU saw. Their opinion is no more valid than yours and yours is no more valid than theirs. As long as it was good to you, that's all that should matter. :)

I didn't see critics reviews before watching MOS. Being a Superman myself I was already excited for the film. After watching it I like it but it didn't wow me. Then when I read the reviews I can see why they were average. When I was a child Christopher Reeve introduced me to Superman, he is Superman. It is him who made Superman one of my favorites. Out of curiosity I looked up the Rotten Tomatoes on Reeve's first film and it's 93%. I can see why.

I think part of the reason why characters such as Superman and Batman are scrutinized a bit more than say Marvel characters, is because there have already been several big portrayals of Superman and Batman on the big screen so people have something to compare these new versions to. Consequently, people already have a pre conceived notion as to how they think a character should be portrayed based on a particular previous rendition that appealed to them. So they will have the propensity to judge any new iteration based on that portrayal which is natural, but also unfair in a way in my opinion. Going into any new version, they essentially have a checklist on what this new version needs to include predicated on their idea on what they think it should be like, which is generally based on a previous rendition.

With many of the Marvel characters, there have been no previous major big screen portrayals of these characters so for a lot of people, these iterations are the blueprint. There are no previous renditions in which to compare them to and therefore, no real pre conceived notions on how these characters should be and are "supposed" to be portrayed in film. For any future renditions of these characters in film, these current films will be what they compare future films to and these films will likely be considered "the right way" because that's what people will be accustomed to and used to seeing.

So I assume this version will be up for PO soon? All they have left to release is Vision, Crossbones, and her. Unless I'm forgetting someone?

Damn. I was sticking to only TF and trying to ignore CW figures, but this BW headsculpt is beautiful. Ugh, might have to reevaluate my priorities.

Yeah, I think it will be up soon. I'm still suprised they are doing a Vision which resembles the previous one so closely. Maybe they will give him some add on to give the figure a better incentive.

There's a slim chance they may do Agent 13 too.

You'll likely end up enjoying the movie that much more if you do. Just allow yourself to be entertained. :duff

Those that go in with the intention of trying to find as many "flaws" as they can or go in with the expectation of seeing what they personally want the movie to be like in their mind, end up missing the actual movie so to speak and only end up ruining it for themselves, in my opinion.

Oh yeah no I agree completely, the stakes are just so high for this movie that I'm stressing out about it because I'm so excited and I know I'll love it, but it's making me really anxious about what happens in it because I am keeping spoiler free, so I'm going in pretty blind, and this is now the crucial last week before I see it, where I'm sitting here thinking "I'm going in blind... But if I look up what happens, I won't be surprised..." but I know I'll hate myself if I find out out of context :rotfl

Eight days. I can do this. No spoilers. Eight days.
