the stand looks pretty cool with the lights and all, but why couldn't HT go a little further and make the stand a storage box that can house all the joker's accessory parts? its a drag to always have to open the boxes just to swap a hand. And leaving the parts on the shelf just look bad (to me, anyways)

They have craft boxes at Walmart and places that work great for 1/6 accessory storage and organization, I have a small one devoted to just HT TDK figures with individual slots for each figure, works great. I've been using these since I started building up my large Hasbro Star Wars figure collection and had too many weapons to keep track of.

Yeah, I use some from container store and such, but I figure since its a DX and all, why not make it even more usable? Anyways, its just a small personal nick pick, the figure itself looks beautiful, I am really looking forward to when BBTS gets their shipment and I am not even a big joker fan. (or a TDK fan for that matter.)

They could have gone with a number of base options, I do like that it has some tie to something legitimate to do with TDk instead of being generic though, but I'm not sure a replica of the costume showcase is the neatest of designs.

I just can't believe we're still getting the under the croch holder with this new stand. It just makes for such unnatural posing. I think it would have been really cool to add magnets under the feet and base and have something different.

I have mixed feelings on the crotch support, some figures it works well, others it sucks, the waist style has it's ups and downs too.

I don't know about you but it sure beats those stupid around the waist ones. Depending on the figure you'd sometimes never be able to get any pose right. The under the croch ones have grown on me I guess. I prefer them. Magnets would be neat.

Thing I find with the crotch ones is inconsistency with the spread, with some figures they come very spread and it takes such force to squeeze them to put the figure on, they push back against the figure legs and almost knock it out of place.

I guess it all comes down to posing preference. I prefer a more museum pose and natural look so I usually have the legs almost completely closed with a slight bend in one of the legs. With the crotch grabbers no matter how much force I use it still spreads the legs to far apart to look natural. I've found myself just not using them anymore.

The only way to achieve a natural pose is to use no stand at all. The thing is, try doing that with half of Hot Toys figures and you're S.O.L. I'm really starting to like the idea of magnets actually :D

I know triad is releasing something like this coming up, so it'll be interesting to see if Hot Toys or Enterbay give it a go.

I don't agree that using magnets in the base and in the feet is the way to go. Won't really stabilize the rest of the figure, which would account for like, 98% percent of weight.

Magnets could work if they were super strong, but you'd need a strong figure too.

If the lone support for my v1 Joker or OC Batman were the angles I'd be screwed, they're quite weak, Batman especially, he'd fall over.

I'd love not to use stands but I need that security that their not going to come tumbling down and break.

Obviously some engineering would need to be involved, but if pulled off properly, I think it would be the next big step in displaying figures. Here's what Triad will be offering. I don't like the design, but I love the step they're taking. I know a lot of high end customizers having been doing this for a while.

Well it has been monkey see monkey do lately so I hope something innovative comes out.

:lecture Yup! And yes especially OC Bats ........... for a superhero he's friggin clumsy just standing. :lol

It'll work great for stiff booted figures, anything with a free posing ankle could be trouble.

Maybe some mix of rings and magnets with an arm rig or something.

Which is bad. From what I've seen posted here quite a number of people have their figures displayed next to their displays/tv's and computers. Strong magnets depends on the power can distort or damage the picture or cause corruption to hard drives/media.

Anyway nobody still hasn't answered if the grey part of the stand is metal or plastic.

That's the biggest problem, Triad figures (especially the female ones) are super stiff. So stiff I've read people have had to actually boil the bodies in order to loosen them enough to pose without breaking. So yeah those figures work great with a magnetic base. Like Maulfan pointed out, HT bodies aren't as stiff especially in the ankles (Like both of my Predator figures) so if I had to rely strictly on that to hold the figure up I'd be screwed. :lol
