what online store would you recommend for purchasing dx joker....urban collector told me Jan 2010, qstoys says Dec 09, any suggestions....im hoping to get him late october....for like $170.

Another thing. Hot Toys isn't learning from their own packaging. When it comes to scuffs. The best packaging they ever done that was fully protected for a figure was the Michael Jackson Billie Jean. Not only was it foam all around the figure like the Joker currently is but there was also a full foam flap covering everything then the plastic/card lid on top. No way at all could any scuffing have happened to the Billie Jean figure. Open the main flap, then open the full foam flap to reveal the figure and items. Why must they cheap out on nearly everything...

I think it might also be rushing to get these out the door, a few hiccups with John Connor, this is the first I've heard of with Joker, could just be they're boxing some before the paint is really dry enough just to get them out in time. Seems like the issues come in the very first waves and subsequent ones are ok.

The rub marks on the Connor figure is an entirely different and more obvious case. When I first opened the box for my Connor figure, the top plastic cover on the figure "tray" (or whatever one would call it in these TS styrofoam boxes) was less than a couple millimeters clear of Connor's nose. Fortunately, no rub mark on mine.

As Maulfan said, this is the first I've seen or heard of paint scuffs or issues with the DX Joker on here or on many other 1/6 boards. I'm not willing to guess what could be the cause. It's all just conjecture for now.

Well if the paint's wet enough, even rubbing against something soft and protective like foam could wear it away. Who knows, could even be a screw up at the factory and the box had nothing to do with it.

These kinds of things are why I'm picky about where I buy this stuff from, it's common enough to feel better spending more money at places I know I've got coverage with problems over than getting discounts or faster shipping and potentially having trouble.

Three AAA batteries, not included.

You're right, there is foam separating the figures from the slip with the cards. I can't see any way scuffing could occur. I'm guessing it happened pre-boxing; a worker might have knocked it or something.

Btw, are those actually Hydeous' pics? I thought those were the first in-hand pics from Toy-World?

Yep, from Hydeous' blog:

I'm not going to be ordering the in hand ones for now that are on ebay and such. I'm going to wait for my order to process however long it takes because 1. I'm a bit tight for cash right now and 2. I heard with initial shipments there are often problems that are worked out for later releases.

Is this the longest thread on SSC boards or not ?

You have to at least hit 100,000 posts like the original "Aliens" thread did before it got its own section.

5,000 is nothing. Hell, even the "Apes" have a lot more.

But Joker definitely wins for 'most threads on a single character' ever.

Have to say I don't get why this thread sees all the activity it does. I'm getting this figure but as far as talking about it I am long done. I might have tuned in to the thread at the first announcement, the first hi-res pics and specs, once or twice during the campaign for changes, the final product pics, and then a few inhand pics from Toyworld but I don't get how theres been such continuity of discussion between all those points in time. What more is there to talk about? But don't mind me, I'm just bored because the rest of the forums are dead.

That's why I think we should have a photo thread

No, the photo thread will end up a cluster (*%*&*$^**&( as well. 2 - 5 will post pics then endless talk until more get it. Then you'll have like 2 - 5 DX threads. Same thing happened with the last figure. Everyone posting to different threads for the same figure. It was a mess. Mods merging left right and center.

It's not the discussing I care about, just people posting multiple threads covering the same topic. Don't need 2 - 4 threads for the same thing. It's better to have one and fish through it for pics.

There will be no photo thread and if one springs up this one will be closed.

I understand the principle notion people are aiming for with photo threads, but it is IMPOSSIBLE, the same chat people don't want to see will shift over there as well as new ones about the photos. It's just how it goes, threads are not galleries, there's no way to keep chat out so there's no sense doing it.

Unfortunately, because of the nature of the set, the BR Joker ended up posting in multiple threads, some posted the v1 with BR head in the v1 thread some in the BR thread because it had more action, that was a mess.

..and you couldn't find the stuff you were looking for. Well, not quickly anyway. Was it in in that thread, or was it in this one. Lots of trailing and you couldn't search for it either. You knew what it looked like but there was no description for it. It wasn't the first thread I was in trailing through trying to remember back then and the whole time I was in the wrong thread.

I'm all for organization, it makes things simpler.

As for photo threads, we can always start one but for keeping things organized I'd close this one once it started up, and if people are hoping starting one would avoid the chatter that's going on in here building gaps between picture postings, it won't happen, there will always be chatter unless a gallery is built to post to and leave feedback in like a blog format.

Messy and cumbersome as it probably would be, I think continuing to post photos in this ever-growing thread would be a weak alternative.
