In the most recent pics I'd say these shots approximate the in-hand coat color the most. What do you folks with DX Joker in-hand think about it?

That'd be fine with me, there's no question that that's a purple coat. That's my main thing, I don't if it's light purple or dark purple, what I find with my v1 coat is that it can look purple and it can look black, and more often than not, it looks on the black side, which isn't very Joker.

I was admiring how awesome the purple looked on him yesterday. Photos can be very deceptive as I'm sure you know. In hand, he even changes color based on lighting in your room, you can take him from one corner to the other and if the lighting is different your coat color will be too.

the 'real' color of the coat is hard to tell, but in normal room lighting conditions its about the same as those screen caps, perhaps SLIGHTLY darker. In sunlight its a nice vibrant purple. Trust me you'll be happy.

I noticed the same thing with the v1 coat more so recently. I had never seen it in true sunlight until a few days ago as I put my light tent in another room where the sun was shining through creating lovely warm light. I had never seen the purple like this before. Normally when I had it displayed it was always in an overcast room with no sunlight. Like Maul said, creating a very dark somewhat navy or near enough black under a normal lit room with no sun.

Is it brighter than that in sunlight? not direct sunlight. As if the room was glowing from ambient light of the sun.

I can't wait for the DX, the coat looks a lovely soft material compared to v1. V1 looks coarse.

I think part of what hurts the v1 colors is the material too. That weird, shiny finish it has I think is an issue. It's an unusual fabric. Fortunately the DX is more a traditional cloth.

definitely brighter than that. The new coat is really fantastic, I dig it more than the PERS. Also, he comes quite well futzed. everything seems ironed very nicely. Probably the most exciting thing about this release is the updated costume. Cop Joker is also made out of some superb material, shirt, tie, coat and especially pants which feel like the actual material you might imagine honor guard pants being made out of, it's smooth and slightly silky but still feels like some type of woven fabric. very nice.

these were some of the first pics out as I recall. this is how the coat color looks in hand. pretty much what we all were hoping for.

Uh-oh, is the coat a velvety-material (talking about the texture, not the color)?

I just realized - if so, that could be a major problem. I have a neurological condition, if I touch velvety texture, it freezes up the muscles in my body.

Whoa. That's unfortunate. Hopefully someone here who owns it can answer that for ya.

Anyway, since the talk here has shifted to how the coat appears under sunlight, I just now stumbled on some pics from Toys Daily that has the Joker underneath direct sunlight:

White balance seems about right, but take it with a grain of salt.

For me, bottomline is the coat looks purple. I've yet to see a single pic where it wasn't obvious that the coat was purple. Well minus this one:

:lol:lol:lol

But seriously.. that's a good sign imo. The coat always looks purple. Either really vibrant or kinda muted purple like the ToyWorld pics above.. but still distinctly purple.

sorry, but it still looks dull.
its not purple :monkey3
its navy blue
hear that HT?? NAVY BLUE!! :banghead

Really? I don't see Navy Blue at all in those pics.

i think they have stuffed up on the vest with the snap things, because in that photo its shut but its not completly closed and the button is just there and you can see the snaps and it just looks wrong. but dont get me wrong i love how they have used them rather than the crappy velcro from the 1st release but its something about that picture that just bugs me

Looks like the stitching on that top button isn't tight enough. Should be easy enough to fix imo.

Well, the V1 coat was purple, but it's obvious most people weren't happy with the shade.

It's purple but for a number of us, it wasn't consistently purple, it could be purple and it could be black. Devil's point is that every shot of the DX so far has looked some shade of purple and hasn't looked like it could look black like the v1 could.

Whats your condition called?

I guess that's how it looks in sunlight to a camera. It's not navy blue at all, it's a very vibrant and obvious purple when in sunlight, to the human eye. Those pics look more like how it looks in my room towards the end of the afternoon with no light on inside.

oh well, you guys will see eventually.

edit: it's not as bright as the PS'd picture but it's not as navy as the one above it makes it seem.
