Yes, but he asked:

so what do u guys think? if you had to choose just one, dx 01 or dx 02 (w/o the oil issues).

BS. You can still be a real Batman fan even if you can only afford/have one of them.

I agree.

Although if you can afford/have them both, and you only buy one... then no, you are not a real Batman fan imo.

Not sure which I would pick between the 2. I do know I love my DX01 though! :rock

Ask me in a month when I have them both. :D

I hate when people measure fandom by product ownership, that's a load of crap, there are people who can own very few items and be far bigger fans than those who own everything.

I thought that might be coming. :monkey3

In general I agree with you. But this site is about collectors. And we are talking about 2 of the greatest collectible figures ever made.

If someone is a true Dark Knight fan and really collects 1/6 scale figures, it's hard to imagine them not wanting both of these. Yes they may not be able to afford them, but that's a different issue.

It's irrelevant, if you think the figures rock and want to own them that's your call, but to not want the figures doesn't make anyone more or less a fan than people that do, it's a bull____ argument about people trying to feel superior to each other. It's the collecting world's version of my ____'s bigger than yours and I'm sick of it. The point of this site is to talk about collectibles, not calling out the fandom of others or slamming down opinions or trying to make ourselves feel superior to other collectors but that's how it's getting to be at this site these days and it's gotten old.

I'm not suggesting that size of a collection is in any way related to degree of fandom.

Let me reword my opinion. If you love collecting action figures and are a Hot Toys fan, and you love the Dark Knight, I personally can't imagine not wanting these 2 figures.

Again 2 figures.

I went nutz and bought 8 different Heath Jokers. This says nothing about me being a greater Dark Knight fan than the next guy. All that says is that I can get a bit obsessed about collecting action figures some time. This doesn't make me better than anyone else. And frankly my Dark Knight collection is quite small compared to a lot of guys here (including you Maul, if I'm remembering pics you posted right.) But again, these 2 figures are a must-buy in my humble opinion.

I understand that you are a Moderator, but sometimes you can be a bit over critical of people expressing their opinion. And frankly you sometimes come off like the diplomacy police.

I have never felt that way at all, and I will thank you for not imputing bad motives to me.

I joined this site because, although I have many friends in the real world, most of them don't give a hoot about action figures. It's fun to come here and talk about them with others who love them. I have no interest in being "superior" to other collectors, and am often humbled by the displays of my fellow freaks. I don't see any reason for bashing others sharing their opinions. I do agree that we should not 'slam' others opinions. But that is quite different then disagreeing. As long as a disagreement can take place in a civilized way that doesn't turn into personal attacks, why can't there be a discussion?

If you disagree with me or anyone else, have a discussion. Don't make accusations.

I have never wanted anything but comradery from you or anyone else here. In rare occasions certain users seem to reject this.

I have a feeling that you will delete this post for being "off-topic" but this has been bugging me for a while, and it needs to be said. At least consider editing this post rather than just deleting it out of hand.

:peace

I think fandom is about the source material...not the merchandising. I like collecting things, but it's for me. I don't really care about how it seems to other people.

I'm comfortable with how big of a batman fan I am...and it's completely specific to myself. :-D

Bravo! That is as it should be. :)

Just remember that we are talking about people who are both "film fans" and action figure collectors. That's a pretty specific demographic.

We collect what we want, and I personally can't imagine not wanting both of these if you meet the above criteria.

I guess, there could be exceptions such as: Already owning the HT V1 Dark Knight, and not feeling the need to "upgrade."

That doesn't apply to me though as I am pretty new to Hot Toys.

Maglor, I wasn't referring only to your comments, it's a general trend around here that I'm tired of seeing.

I appreciate that.

I will be quiet on the subject from here on.

I am a huge TDK fan and I don't have the DX02 because I mostly like the bad guys. I'm sure some day I'll pick up Batman too if I can get him cheap enough.

Well see, there you go. I hadn't even considered that. I don't get it, but clearly we all think differently. :)

That's why I love this place!

When it comes to "good guy" figures Batman is pretty dark and almost an "anti-hero" at least in appearance, so still think you should pic up a Bats Madden. ;)

That's what I love about the way Batman is filmed and for my photography of Batman figures, he's a hero, but his presentation is more along the lines of a villain, it's a great mix of the best qualities of both sides.

If your a real Batman fan youll hav both the DX01 and DX02 in your collection like me...

14 comments where made about one comment I made mistake of posting I guess... I thought this was the way most people think around here... I was stepped on the Resident Evil Hottoys thread because I refuse to by the STARS Ver and waste money on the same figure twice... There they said I was not a real FAN... Same ____ happened in the Ironman 2 thread when I said I wouldnt buy any of the Ironman 2 ____... Oh your not a real FAN then... So dont act like Im the bad guy I got burned twice already... An I agree I made a stupid comment here...

Even though I have both, Maul has both and many other collectors have both. Even to this day the DX Joker wins.

What do you get? relatively two figures for the price of 1. Very smart looking figures in fact.

We all know or those who do know Batman was tarred with all the defects regardless if it's officially fixed now. The release was a cluster feck because Hot Toys rushed it to the market. The figure maybe beautiful and a wonderful looking piece don't get me wrong but the Joker hands down was no way a hindered rushed release from the get go. Plus it's value for money that you more or less get an extra figure just without a spare body.

Just to shine in my story... the TDK movie is what got me into this whole ____ing mess...
TDK Batman is what I know I wanted because of the movie being my all-time favorite.
The Tumbler was always on my dream list but at that time I still had some sense of budgeting my spending and told myself a $180 TDK figure is enough madness but hell that went out the window pretty fast too :rotfl
It never even crossed my mind to get a villain at the time. But after seeing DX01 I had to buy it because the figure is just so amazing (oh and I think reading the posts here really is what pushed me to do it much like for all the TS figures and everything else I bought since)
So for me as a fan of the TDK movie I would think DX02 (DCD shipment) is the way to go if I only had the choice of one as it is afterall a movie about this superhero. BUT as a fan of these collectible the DX01 is really a marvel and milestone of this industry and should not be missed. But .... well here we go preaching again ..... if you are on a budget and you really want a life in the real world, leave this god forbidden place and never look back and keep your hard earned money cause like drugs, ones you start you cannot stop and you will find crazy ways to expand your budget to feed this addiction where friends and family surrounding you will give up on you

I almost forgot, just wanted to share a funny story about this figure. On Sunday my wife had some lady friends over (new house visits) so she gave them the grand tour. As some know my basement (man cave) is almost done so my collection is still boxed up. However I couldn't resist just displaying DX Joker and DX bats on one of our dressers. One of her friends literally jumped back when looking up close to Jokers sculpt :lol She swore it looked too real and was freaked out by it. :D

I thought it was kinda funny and complimentary to Hot Toys at the same time. :D

Now that is a great story and truly defines this figure and reason why I caved

it's just too damn real
