Yes. It usually makes it get hard and will crack. I would generally recommend against it.

But behind a large metal rivet that little spot of fabric getting stiff wouldn't matter as the rivet is rigid anyway.

1207 pages. It doesn't take more time to read. In fact with a slower connection 10 per page is much faster.

I would if I cared about what others saw. I maintain that the majority use the default 10 per page.

It does. There is more total loading time doing it in multiple small chunks.

More importantly, context switching in the human brain makes repetitive cycles of loading and reading much slower than loading all at once and then just reading through. (It's the same reason two monitors is MUCH faster for doing any task rather than alt-tabbing)

When I found you could increase the post-per-page count, I discovered that reading through these boards was a much smoother (and more pleasant) experience.

If my net time is longer to go through 4 pages than waiting for one 40 post page to load, I don't care. I absolutely despise waiting for pages to load. If there are pics on a page, the length of time I have to wait for 10 posts is the absolute longest that I am willing to wait.

Meh, I do the same. So many peeps send me links to funny posts, or calling for back-up, I just prefer the default setting.

I would change from default but when the certain plonkers post 4xxx x 3xxx photos and you're downloading 20+MB photos you can't help but go aa*@^£^(@*#. It gets on my nerves, especially when another plonker quotes them all with two words.
