I've always wanted a DX01 but recently got my hands on a V1 with Bank Robber head...and I have to admit there are times where I think to myself "this looks much better than a DX01". Sure with the DX you get a few more accessories and extra gimmicks and stuff, but at the end of the day a V1 w/ BR head looks just as good 99% of the time.

I was very eager to save up and buy a DX01, but since getting this and not being disappointed in the slightest...I'm not that desperate to find a DX01 anymore. This is a perfect display piece to represent the Joker.

If cost is a concern, I say the V1 head with BR Joker head is the way to go.

This:

Which you can make with this:

and this:

Pricey at the moment on eBay, but still cheaper than the DX or one of those customs.

:goodpost:

I would add swapping out the Overcoat for the one that comes with the DX.

These may be cheaper around hear once some of the guys replace theirs with the Kato custom overcoat.

you should at least buy the dx coat. so much better

I might do eventually just to add to the display, though as of now I'm not actually sure what about it is better (unless its the removeable Grenade Rig in which case I do).

I've been playing around with some digital postprocessing (using Digital Photo Professional, which came with my camera). So far I usually cropped my shots and posted them, now I'm discovering a whole new world. :lol
Here's my first attempt at a Joker shot:

And for comparison, the original, unmodified version I posted a couple of months ago:

I still have much to learn since I'm just getting started (the coat is way too dark now, for example), but I'm already liking it. :)

No, you can talk about customs here as long as the discussion doesn't go too far off the rails (since this is a DX Joker thread at the end of the day).

Some folks went overboard and pulled this thread off track previously, with discussions that belonged in custom figure threads, and people got pissed off, conflicts arose, insults were hurled, feelings were hurt, off-shoot religions were formed, civilizations rose and fell, etc. Not pretty.

I'm glad you picked up on that unlike some other members that can't read between the lines. It's some members that are the problems. Not the customs themselves.

That's why I never touch my rod.

That's what the girlfriend is for....

:monkey3

The material. The color. The cut. The pattern.

Side by side, the v1 trenchcoat is a joke compared to the DX. I would consider the difference between the v1 Joker head and BR Joker head to be similar in magnitude to the difference between the v1 coat and the DX coat - one actually LOOKS like it belongs to the Joker.

If the clothes were that bad I wouldn't have been able to have them sit like this... only the shirt is as bad as you describe. The collar wouldn't close with the tie. I'd love to have them ironed just for kicks to see how respectable they would look compared to the Harue prototype photos.

Great pics. :)

Nice and clear, and the figures look great.

...but please fix the Cop's hat! :panic:

Yeah, that's another thing that I would do if you want to go cheap and get a good Hot Toys Joker. The DX coat is excellent. I personally never paid much attention to his vest, socks, etc., though I'm sure the DX version is more accurate.

good luck on finding a dx joker coat

jUST WAIT A MONTH OR SO , EVERY ONE WHO IS BUYING Katos Joker outfit will be selling their DX Purple Coats :wink1::yess::panic:

I'd imagine most people who planned on selling them already have them sold to fund kato's gear so far ..my dx suit is long gone, in a way i wish i had kept it until after kato's suit was complete just to put them side by side ..but that's my only regret.

I was looking for a DX coat last year and saw a few sell for around $30. Maybe the value has changed since then, though.

I've got to figure they're getting tough to find.

I sold my DX sculpt on eBay a couple months back, and got probably ten to twelve people emailing me asking if I was going to sell the coat as well.
