Update for anyone who had a ripped box for this figure, sent them a wee email to complain, they gave me an extra $30 off Loki figure. I also used an extra $25 off voucher as well.

I would have rather have a perfect box, but will happily accept the 30 bucks off.

That bottom one is one of the ones I was talking about. The top one looks like its spruced up a bit. Like at the coat, how vibrant it is.
Its just a paint variation, there's nothing wrong with it. Some have more white and black and other have a more faded/messy looks.

Ok maybe I am missing something? They are the SAME figure taken by the same member in different lighting. No?

Sideshow sent me a replacement purple coat for my dx11. But I'm struggling to get the stupid coat on him. Should I really remove the grey jacket and then put them both on at once? And how did you guys go about getting the jackets on/off? I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I don't want to damage anything while working on the figure. Thanks.

What are you afraid of damaging? Removing the gray jacket optional bit if you're having so much trouble getting the coat on Toy may be easier foe you to take the jacket off, putting it in the purple coat then putting on together. I found it they slide easier over the shirt then sliding the coat over the jacket while on the figure, more futzing.

That's what I'm seeing too. Lighting makes a huge difference. More than most people realize sometimes.

Most don't believe it and hence the amount of frenzy when really crappy in hand pictures show up eg Luke or Selina now. Some still believe the first in hand luke is of a crappier prototype and won't accept that it is the same as any final Luke just a really bad lighting setup and picture.
Lens distortion, lighting white balance they all impact your final image a lot than you can imagine. But to most not into photography or related fields it is incomprehensible. There are still tons of ppl that believe every picture represents fact be it super slim and perfect models, diet results heck big foot ;)
But then again can't blame them either. To them it's black magic

Agreed. I am no photo expert but I have come along way with it since owning and using a DSLR Camera. There are so many differences in how you can make something appear with the settings, it is truly unbelievable. :exactly:

You know I have a question for you guys...for those who have watched my vid on this figure, you have seen that I have him displayed 2 ways. I am using the first DX with the laughing sculpt and jacket off sitting at the table. Then I have the other sculpt fully clothed with the coat standing up. With the tailoring being so good on the newer outfit, do you think I should switch it up and use the newer outfit without the coat on with the laughing sculpt since when he has the trench coat on, it hides most of the other clothes underneath anyway?

Never would have thought, that this diabolic expression even was possible with his face...

I own all Joker figures so far (Hot Toys/Enterbay), but this is another highlight in my collection, since the figure arrived yesterday.

I'm still new to collecting Hot Toys figures, so I always want to make sure I'm doing everything the right way so I don't break anything. I'm also just a worrier by nature. But thanks for the advice, I did get the coat on after reading your post without having to get the grey jacket off.

Lighting has something to do with it but I think that one is much like some of the recent ones we've been seeing. Like deathbyexile's.

I don't think so. I think lighting has most to do with it. Look at these pics again. This was both posted by the same member which means it is the same figure in different lighting.

i don't disagree that lighting has a lot to do with the look of a figure and the paint job, but i guarantee you, no trick of lighting, no superphotoman, no special angle is ever going to make my joker look like he has a white face.

i really hope the second one i get is white faced so you can see them together under the same lighting and see the actual difference for yourself.

the application is completely different on some of these.

and for the record: i still don't care; i love my joker just as he is.

Hey Death, I wasn't referring to your figure. I actually haven't seen the pics of yours yet so you may have one that is slightly different. I was referring to the pic Fiend showed of another member's figure where his clearly looks different in both pics because of lighting differences. It is the same figure and in one pic it looks like his face is more clean and whiter and another not so much. That is my argument for lighting.

yeah, Fiend's is the same!

just that there is variation in the apps; some more radical than others.

i've seen some posted here (un-modded) that look like the mob scene ~ they're that white.

: D

Looks killer and IMO is absolutely a joker worth owning just on the head sculpt alone... That said this entire DX made me happy and glad I added him into my collection.
