Didn't MoS gather 3x more money at the box office than Batman Begins? :slap

It made less than double with 3D sales, a shockingly higher marketing budget, and with bigger namepower in the production side, disregarding inflation. Not to mention how different the movie scene was in 2005 compared to 2013. Man of Steel came after three of the highest rated superhero movies of all time, while Begins had to follow Batman and Robin.

I think at worst, MOS is a 6.5 out of 10. At best a 7. It obiously did very well for itself at the box office, but I think if the movie had been better it could have done much better for itself. I thought leading up to MOS release it could be the event movie of the summer like The Dark Knight or Avengers were, but it never really took off or became the pop culture phenomenon like those movies did. It just kind of came and went. It made plenty of money, but just didn't have that lasting impact imo.

People are like: enough with origin movies already! 99% of the audience could already pass a test on Superrman's backstory. Watching it on screen (again!) doesn't have the power that it in 1978.

Well im primarily a marvel guy, but MOS was absolutely awesome for me, i really have nothing negative to say about it, its an awsome way to update superman

Superman needed the origin told again. It's the best way to get the audience invested in the character and it had been over 30 years since a film had done it. He was due for it to be told again.

I will never get tired of looking at this :):):):)

Hope we get a pre-order soon and see Shannon's HS.

And Faora!!!...Please HTs make Faora!!!!

you have a point but I agree with you both, I just hope they dont do the kryptonite turns him into a ***** again. Ive seen it, I get it, I hate it. Enough with him getting his *** kicked with a regular dude with a green rock. They need to be creative.

Indeed. The filmmakers involved were clearly not setting up a Batman/Superman movie at all. They were setting up to continue Clark/Superman's story. The closest thing to any hint of Batman/Superman teaming up was the Wayne satellite in space, but that was nothing more then just a little easter egg Snyder put there as an acknowledgement to Nolan's work with Batmàan. Hell, Goyer didn't even know about it until Snyder pointed it out to him. Also, look back at any of the interviews during the promotion of MOS from Snyder, Goyer or Cavill when they're asked about a World's Finest film or Justice League. They all said they hoped that stuff would be further down the road and that Superman needed to be established more in another solo film. WB has hi-jacked this franchise to just try and make a quick buck. There has been no thought or care put into it in the slightest.
Don't be surprised to see a little Clark vs Bruce conflict

I think that's pretty clear that the critics have a personal grudge against Snyder, that explains the bad reviews to gems like Watchmen and 300.

The point was that MoS did twice as good as BB so it clearly can stand on it's own.

Also MoS had to follow Superman returns, which according to RT is better than MoS :cuckoo:

Oh, and Also IM3 is better than MoS on RT, need further proof of the incoherence of the scores towards Snyder?

The cinematography, quality and most of the acting of the watchman was great. The writing and story put me to sleep. I consider it one of the best made worst movies ever. I still watch it in parts if its ever on, and Ill see a rorschach movie anyday.

The story itself is literally a copy/paste of the actual graphic novel, which is nothing less than a masterpiece and arguably the best graphic novel written so far for many, with only small alterations.

Ive never read it so I wont pretend that I did you know lol Ive just heard people say book is way better and they ruined the movie. Thats the usual story with every adaptation though right lol

Yeah, usually if I haven't read the book I like to see the movie 1st and then I read the book to avoid being disappointed :lol

Which was the case here, I saw the movie, loved it, then read the book, loved it even more, but the changes to the story were very minimal and mostly practical and ended up working great imo.

Didn't say otherwise. It's just: we get it.

Never understood why people care so much about what a movie makes and critic reviews or really any reviews. We each have to just judge these things for ourselves. Any kind of art, we all have our own tastes.

Before MoS my favorite Snyder film was Sucker Punch. I really loved it. I liked Watchmen, 300, and Dawn of the Dead, but i really loved SP. The story was great, and had a lot of deeper meaning. I feel that movie was really misunderstood and people were too caught up in the visuals and not getting the meaning of the story. I dont even people realized it was taken place in like the 1960s. But the fans of it really support it a lot which is nice to see. And not everyone has to like it. And i understand why its a tough movie to like but i thought it was really great.

I dont envy Snyder taking on Watchmen. That was not an easy task, nor is any Alan Moore graphic novel being made to a movie. There you are, one of your heroes who you love, despises that your going to make the movie version of his book. I mean that in itself has got to be a ton of pressure and stress.

Like JJ Abrams now taking on Star Wars.....do not envy him at all, but i wish him all the luck and hope he does something great.:)

That picture of Zod's prototype looks incredible!

I hope the helmet is removable, or at least they make an alternate "helmetless" head.

About the "Man of Steel" movie... I liked "most" of it, was surprised buy a pair of twists, and I'm torn about the "you-know-which-part" near the ending.

The one thing that surprised me, but to me made a lot of sense, despite being something that was never tried before, was the bit about... (SPOILERS!)

...Lois finding out by herself about Clark, his origin, heritage, knowing about the duality, and the wink between both of them in the final scene, implying that she'd be her confident from then on. She knows the secret, and will help him guard him from public knowledge.
That was a completely new twist, never done in comics or anywhere else. In comics, Superman only revealed the truth to her, after proposing, but never before that. In this version, she finds out by herself, even before he dons his costume.
It makes sense, because it speaks about her ability as an investigative reporter, unlike what happened always in comics. It was always very far-fetched that the most prized reporter from the daily Planet could be fooled by just wearing a pair of glasses. This is a fresh and well-thought turn of events, IMO.

Then, the scenes in Krypton, the whole decoration, landscapes, costumes, society, laws, the philosophical differences between Zod and Jor-El, and specially Jor-El and Lara's feelings when they have to send their boy out to space... all of it was beautiful and very well developed.

Pretty much every actor was great in their respective characters, even though I couldn't help but notice the age difference between Cavill and Adams (he's much younger than her), but they worked well together, nonetheless.
