Does Sideshow really resell returned figures? Because aside from my shield covered in scratches, the dinged up packaging and visibly peeled/reapplied tape everywhere is hard to ignore.

I've read a couple of reports from the Superman thread about people receiving figures that seemed to have been previously opened and damaged.

Hi, I have a quick question and I wasn't sure how far back I'd have to look to get the answer so I hope this isn't too redundant.
I just got my Cap from CSC today and I'm really happy with it. I'm guessing it was part of the second wave. It came with a pouch with wrist pegs, another with little replacement buttons like those on some of the straps and another pouch with larger pegs.
I wasn't sure what the larger pegs were for. It seemed like I heard they were replacement ankle pegs to make him look taller but wasn't sure. Any ideas?

Just now reading thru a little bit of this thread. Guess my chances of getting a replacement from SS because of the crooked star on mine are blown.

I think the reply from SS that 'all of their replacements have the same defects' is just them blowing smoke up peoples' asses. I'd go for a refund and order elsewhere.

The larger pegs are for his ankles to incease his height.

Well.... since there are problems out there for people who got bad Capt.
IF, some of you are thinking of parting it out or whatever, let me know. I want to get an extra shield, since someone offered me a good money for the one I customized. I can't turned it down, now I need a shield to replace the one I sold.
So hit me up !
:D

After seeing some of the bad QC issues on Captain America figure, I realised that the slightly slanted star badge on the side of my figure is way too minor to have me complaining about.
The slanted "A" on his head is definitely a no no and HT should ensure higher QC quality...

I received my Captain in perfect condition, except for the shield. Like yours, my shield has very visible scratches on one part of it. As if someone at the factory rubbed it the wrong way.

After a string of emails, along with a picture of the shield showing the scratch marks to SSC Customer Service, SSC is sending me a replacement shield. They shipped my replacement shield yesterday. I should be getting the new shield replacement end of this week.

So there should be no need to send back the whole figure or any of the accessories since I've learned SSC had been waiting for replacement parts from Hot Toys before they sent my replacement shield.

I recommend you contact SSC for a replacement.

Thank you. I appreciate the info! :hi5:

i totally understand you pitu , if you spent so much money on a figure it should be perfect , i've been disappointed myself a couple of times in the past so i decided to buy all my stuff ( except for the sideshow exclusives) in a local shop where the manager gives me the opportunity to check the item before buying so maybe you should do that too instead of ordering directly through sideshow...

A great video Pitu :clap

I don't think your frustration is unreasonable at all. Another major QC issue from HT going unanswered yet again and SS policy for returns isn't up to snuff (paying shipping cost on defective product).

I am waiting on Cap from AE (2nd batch) according to the posts, I don't have a good feeling about my chances of receiving a defect free Cap. Unfortunately, AE has the same return policy as SS which is poor IMO.

Glad Nick came thru for you.......

Even though if it were me, I probably wouldn't care enough to go through the hassle that you are, I think you have a valid point. Given Sideshows track record of paint jobs with crooked eyes, I'm not surprised at their response. I call shenanigans that all the figures they got have the same problem. I think that is a way of sorting out the complaints.

I understand you Pitu :) That's the same thing happened to me but it's a superman figure.. I'll take a closer inspection when i get my Cap soon :)

Totally sucks that Sideshow is being like that, P!tu. I wonder if they would be more accommodating if it were their own product.

Have you considered contacting HT directly? Tell them how you don't consider the crooked A to be within the acceptable range of error for a hand crafted product and was very disappointed by the way Sideshow is handling the situation. It might be easier for HT to deal with it directly since they can just run to the factory and get the replacement, as opposed to SS who has to probably fill out paperwork, submit the request, wait for a shipment of replacements, etc.

I had gotten some replacement wrist pegs a couple of years ago directly from HT even though I bought the figure through a retailer. Just recently my Indy DX came with the gun's cylinder missing and contacted HT directly for a replacement instead of going through the retailer as well. Their response is very slow and honestly I don't even know for sure if they will send me the Indy part (they only responded my initial request by asking me for a receipt of the purchase, which I sent. I haven't heard anything since.) But it might be worth a shot.

Thanks for pointing these major QC issues out, Pitu. I was on the fence about this figure but with all these "minor imperfections" all over the figure, the whole figure to me is one big defective and inaccurate item. As we all know, it is a lot of money for these figures and it's okay to let one or two minor issues slide but not a whole figure riddled of them.

P!tu, did you notice the scratched paint (wink, wink) on the back of Cap's head... that's the part I'd tell Sideshow about :lecture
