I have no issue with nitpickig about exact film accuracy just so long as you're aware that it's nitpicking. It drives me nuts when people say things like "it's unrecognizable!". That's nonsense.

it's "recognizable" because SW studios made a predator unique from P1 and tsang laaaamely "copied" it. no credit to him because he ****ed up everything he could.
the problem is in quotes.
my P2 still has tsang body and armor but only because nobody remade them yet. unlike head, mask, cannon, shoulder belt and some other items that were totally replaced on a figure that claimed to be "authentic blah blah blah". great, sincere thanks to people who actually put their labor and love to P2 into those replacing parts.
now you can dance some nuts mad dance :D

Instead they produced below par unrecognizable head sculpt nothing to the outstanding movie counterpart.

This was the first HT Predator figure I've owned that I really didn't like it. I had my reservations about him from the start but was prepared to wait and see how he was in-hand. I never warmed to him, hence why I sold him.

Whereas a figure like Tracker was great in-hand and looks awesome (maybe because the figure looked better than it's movie counterpart), P2 just felt like a half arsed attempt at one of the great Predator designs.

Exactly.:lecture

Weird that's the complete opposite for me :lol

I was having withdrawals after the final pics of P2 came out and even tried to cancel my preorder but was unable to. When I got it in hand tho, I was thankful I didn't. It still is one of my favorites, for sure. With ones like Falconer they're accurate, sure, but the designs themselves never aged well for me.

When HT's revealed their City Hunter head sculpt it mirrored my thoughts equally to when Scar took off his mask in AVP……WTF is this!!!

I guess we agree to disagree.:lol

I don't think HT's will ever get P1 or P2 perfect. As I've stated before I think it's because Tsang's sculpting style is better suited to the more 'cartoony' look of the AVP or Predators Preds, whereas the original designs are a lot more Kevin Peter Hall (if that makes sense).

My take on the inaccuracy thing. Hot Toys wants to make money, they want to keep producing updated and improved versions of the pred's. They wouldn't benefit from making a perfect rendition. Which is why they tend to make them "close enough" or in some cases "barely close enough" to the original. This way they can keep the line alive and continue making money. Lets face it, it wouldn't be difficult for Hot Toys to make a figure with perfect resemblance to the original, not if they really wanted to. :)

A fat load of good that did him. I think Berserker is the most inaccurate HT Predator yet. :lol

This guy is pretty cool looking in my opinion and I'd like a Predator for my collection eventually. I can't decide if I like this one best or would rather get the newly announced Elder Predator or possibly the Scar Predator. I like the fact that this one has the battle damage options with the arm and the oxygen mask.

I love mine, no matter what others say, city hunter 2.0 looks very good in person, I like it better than all other ht predators to date including scar, I sold my scar , but I'm keeping my city hunter.

If you're going to get only one, get the one with the most posing options.

I just got my classic and I really, really like it. I especially like the caster canon and the 'backpack' of the classic more than the city hunter, whose canon especially is a bit wimpy. For some reason I also prefer the predator wearing sandles like the classic does as well. However, posing them side by side the city hunter just looks more sinister in some way...it definitely looks like it can beat the crap out of the classic :) I tend not to fuss with the accessories much on my figures...but it's definitely fun to change things up on the city hunter. I had it displayed with bios since I got him but just decided to change it to breathing mask and voila..I feel like it's a new figure again :) I think if you have limited budget then between the two city hunter would be the way to go since there is a chance there will be a proper 1987 predator ver 2.

Get what makes you happy and what gets you excited. Do you research and see what you like.

Yeah I'm kind of leaning towards the City Hunter at the moment. I like the Scar but overall I don't like Alien Vs. Predator and enjoy the first two films a bit more. The Elder Predator is cool but I like that this guy has more display options with the masks and the battle damaged arm. The Classic Predator is cool too but I sort of wish we'd get a re-release of the original Predator.

I would agree with the first part...I would skip the research and get out of this forum altogether though haha. The more you know and the more you read about the criticism from other collectors and actually learn about the 'flaws' about the sculpts, etc, the more dissatisfied you may get.

Before I started getting into the forums, I would've looked at any Alien/Predator/Terminator figure and just say cool figure I'd like to have it. Then you start reading all the reviews and debates and then it becomes very confusing...and all of a sudden the predator you saw and loved didn't have the right forehead or mandible, or the face and teeth on your $400 endoskeleton is too long...things that you would not have noticed or cared if you didn't do 'research' :)

I read the criticisms of various people on these boards and while I can see it in some cases (not just with Predators but with just about any 1/6th figure) honestly I tend to find that I'm not nearly as nitpicky as some people on these forums are. Not that I'll just accept anything and call it good but I think a lot of times sculpts get exaggerated for being way worse than they actually are.

I think the 1987 predator will be re-released again....I just don't have the patience to wait for it and want something similar to look at in the mean-time so I grabbed the classic. I don't know how much of a change in sculpt HT would make for the re-release though..since everone seem to say that Tsang is lazy. Maybe just a jungle base, the trophies, arm band?

If the original Predator from Predator is re-released I'll gladly pick him up and while I think the Classic Predator is cool I'd rather wait for a re-release of the original. I wouldn't mind having both the original and City Hunter in my collection though. I think City Hunter is what I'm going with for now (when I decide to order him).

It's good to be able to filter out the bull**** from the facts. I think a lot of people have good opinions and valid criticisms, but then others might go a bit too far and have their own bias towards a particular release over another.

I like making educated purchases, especially at 200+ a pop, but again I weigh it against my own opinion first and foremost.

A few folks have ragged on City Hunter, but I was drawn to it first due to the colors, accessories, and love of the film. I took their considerations into account, but ultimately went with what I wanted. :D

Anyway! Finally took a decent shot of my CH! I tried to get that helicopter spotlight look from the end of the film:

Really love this figure. The med pack, the diecast blades, the disc weapon, the rebreathers, and the stub arm! Not to mention the bloody skull and the spear! So much to do. haha.

Love how the eyes pop.
