Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

This is very true. My Batman figures all stand at attention with their arms by their sides to prevent the inevitable damage as long as possible. I really thought the replaceable arm idea was great and that the bent elbow would allow for plenty of posing opportunities. Who wants to pose him in a "Hulk Smash" pose knowing that the elbow joints will split in the same way that their other rubber figures have...Hot Toys has NO credibility on this.

Even the Hot Toys Spiderman, which I really like and think is the best 1/6 Spiderman to date, has the rubber webbing on the suit and I am afraid to pose him to avoid that rubber from breaking.

Hot Toys knows the Hulk will be sold out in no time, but if they suspected otherwise, they might change the rubber arms to exposed joint arms. Hot Toys seems to listen if there are enought complains.

And Avatar just did not sell that well because they released it too late. Closer to the movie release, it would have sold a lot better. The character is just not that iconic.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

So, are there any 1/6 Hulk statues as an alternative? I really don't want my Hulk to start cracking. :(

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

What they need to do and I've said it before, is include sculpted arms (and articulated) which you press into the body and reduces the gaps between the body and the arms. So the lines are barely visible. These figures are statues with the ability to change poses, I don't mind if these can't be articulated in the way you would want to if you were playing with them like a child. Just give us sculpted arms to have different poses!

Putting it like that you make me change my view on calling them toys. They have to compromise a little for everyone but I guess they are more or less just statues with the ability to be changed. I agree and think changeable arms would make most people happy enough. If they are using rubber that deteriorates then they are pretty much just saying they don't give a _____ at all about their customers or the life of their product.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

Only problem I have had so far was with my Abe. He has that painted rubber sleeve and I have some cracking on it. As far as HB goes, mine shows no signs of cracking but he is really dull. My Leonidas is holding up ok too.

I also keep them in museum poses so there isn't much tension on the rubber.

Which is unfortunately what I will do if they use rubber. :monkey2

I am picking this up regardless of the material used. I would prefer it to have no rubber. The reason being is because I'm thinking long term. Rubber eventually will break down and start to deteriorate.

Me too. But again, please NO RUBBER!

That's not the problem you should be worrying about right now. Your problem will be when the rubber on your very expensive Hulk figure decides to give way.

Which would be my greatest fear. :(

Compared to the DX 02, Leonidas came out pretty good being a full rubber figure. But of course, I have not seen many pics with him doing more then just standing straight.

So whichever way you look at it, if the rubber does not break down, you woun't really be able to pose him. Very little enjoyment in a rubber figure. And Hulk is a character that would be fun to pose as he does not have any complicated clothing or needs any futzing.

Which would make this figure a major let-down. :gah:

They should last a lifetime. :lecture

Exactly. One can only hope that their rubber quality improves, but until that day comes, no rubber please!

:hi5:

You sure?

Hulk HAS elbow articulation hmm spells R.U.B.B.E.R. :horror

-interview of Howard Chan @ AniCom2012

I just chatted to Mark on Facebook and he told me he was told the elbow joints will move, but he was not told if they were plastic or rubber, but he did not know what the prototype arms were made of.

It might be they are adding a joint to the arms? He also said it could be up for Pre-order this month, so I think it's not time to panic just yet until we know for sure with the pre-order photos.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

Let's presume for a moment that the plan is rubber arms. I think we, as a community and farther, can make a big enough uproar (lol) about it to get plastic arms with visible joints. So, I think for now you're right, let's sit back and see what happens with the preorder then go from there.

Excerpt from the HK Figure Club interview with Howard Chan....

We all know how that turned out...It may or it may not have bendy elbows, we need to wait and see!!

But this time, theyre talking about a figure that's already there existing
not some drawing board idea

:D

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

Indeed, but I still feel that we rally need to wait and see what is actually going to happen, because it is going to PEE people off no matter which way it goes.

Someone earlier used the phrase that HT are "...damned if they do and damned if they don't"

And they were right!

There are other alternatives instead of using rubber or visible joints.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

I don't know how many times I've said it now, sorry. But they can include sculpted arms made out of plastic that you insert into the body that clicks into place so there's no gap between the body and the arms. So the line is barely visible. They can include several pairs of sculpted arms for different poses and of course a pair of articulated arms with visible joints.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

now the blu-ray trailers are finally giving us a good look at Hulk's relaxed stance i'm pretty disappointed with HT's effort. It's not that it's a bad Hulk figure far from it, it's just not got the feel Hulk had in the movie, he looks too toned and human like in figure form whereas in the cgi he looks a lot more animal like, a pure brute force beast. Will still get it most likely but would love another company to do a 1/6 figure or statue with Hulk looking like he does in this pic

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

Seeing that Hulk's arms are huge I doubt they will be that generous and give extras while I think its a good idea Im pretty sure it will just be partially rubber, which blows for a very expensive figure.

Just me personally but that makes it a statue, no thanks. Its the subtle changes that makes posing enjoyable and having say three arm poses doesn't appeal to me.
