As much as I'd love a Celtic and Chopper to go with Scar I'd prefer to shell down my money for a P2 Elder and Wolf first.

I would too, actually. Just because it's more fun to see something new. As excited as I am to have a fresh AVP trio, with Scar revealed, it's not too hard to imagine what the others will look like.

For every positive thread like this there's a City Hunter one just waiting around the corner.:panic:

More like two City Hunters. The odds aren't in our favor when it comes to Tsang's Predators (though I'm still pumped for the City Hunter; I guess the way to my heart is good paint apps :monkey3).

Tsang mandibles should work well on Wolf.

Agreed. And I'll actually buy him this time. Would've paid aftermarket prices if I was interested enough in the first attempt, but even back then I could tell he needed improvement. Wolf needs massive, powerful mandibles, not stringy little antennae.

What these companies really need to do is pull the talented people from these forms to help with the painting and sculpting us collectors sometimes seem to do better than SSC and HT ,I myself have gotten better at painting and sculpting ,and also directors who make these alien, predator ,terminator and ect, movies need the fans and collectors of the forms help in these movies ,I bet we could do a great job at makimg these movies because we all have great ideas ........I'm glad I finally said that ,I feel better now .lol !

The short dreads are a fail. I mean, is this really how HT is trying to be efficient and save on costs?

This is not something that was overlooked. It's planned.
With all the source material they have for reference, it's quite clear how long the dreads should be:

They're already charging out the ass for these and you think it's a trick to save on production costs? HT's simply ignorant. Or at least, Tsang is. As long as you can tell what Predator it is, he's happy. Look at the latest Predators the company's revealed. It's more than just the dreads.

Everyone on here will agree: it's quite clear how a LOT of things should be. But it isn't to Tsang. Or it is and he just doesn't consider those things to be important. I'm simply glad the dreads didn't turn out worse. Because they easily could have.

If you want to talk cutting costs, the netting would be your best argument; the AVP netting had much wider diamonds than on any other Predators and HT's still using the same kind they always do.

Still a prototype and given how different classic was from the proto i expect the same here. Dreads aren't likely to change though. HT has one length dreads that i feel they just repaint and reuse as they seem fit.

Am I the only one who thinks this head-sculpt looks better then the ones the studio produced for the film? The Ones in the film just looked to friendly, This one on the other hand is another story.

Yup. It seems like the issue that has plagued every single HT Predator is the shortness and small amount of dreads.

Seems so simple, right? Look at the screenshots. Look at the production stills. If we can simply google an image and find a glaring inaccuracy, why can't the experts who sculpt these and charge us $200+ for them do the same?

The sad thing is that I say this in literally every new HT predator thread.

Just realized: I'm digging the closed mouth and hating the open mouth. His inner-jaws should be more open for when he's roaring. The other HT Predators don't have that issue because their default inner-jaw sculpt is slightly more open so it works no matter how you display the mandibles. They found a happy medium for those and went for nearly-closed on this one. Looks odd.

Still going for a masked display, just an observation.

ht can kiss my big toe and tsang's not worthy enough to.this is just a classic predators head reworked a little with different manibles.

on the open mouth pose the mandibles go strait out which is dumb but still I mean if you are going to have it masked guarenteed you won't even care after its on your shelf.

Yeah, these things are increasing in price, but where is it justified? Are we actually getting more?
Trying to minimize on expenditure is the only logical explanation. It puts more money in their pockets.

I can understand when a sculptor fails to achieve a certain likeness in a head or body sculpt. That takes a lot of skill, time, and experience to master. But to simply look at your references and adjust for length of dreads... a 4th grader can do that.

You think Tsang deliberately made the dreads short because he's being "ignorant"? Umm, OK. Are you sure you're not the ignorant one?

Exactly, because of cost. They already have this length and diameter of dreads that they have molds for and can mass produce.

I never said he deliberately did it. Ignorance doesn't have to be deliberate. I believe he truly just doesn't view details like that as important so he disregards them without even being consciously aware of it.

You see, that's where I disagree. You're saying it was overlooked.
I'm saying the dreads are too short to save on costs.

You seriously think he looked at this and didn't see that the dreads were too short? OK. Someone needs to tell him he's in the wrong industry. :)

Well... yeah. Someone should. :lol
Or maybe he did see they were short and thought it wasn't that big of a deal. To me, this dreadlock issue goes hand-in-hand with the other sculpt innaccuracies that plague HT Predators today.

So what about the super-Predators? Their dreads were a completely different sculpt (not just the rings, but the thickness and texture). And for the record, this Scar does have thicker dreads than Shadow and Classic. The rings are different as well. I highly doubt they're trying to save on cost, given these points. Even if they were, it's probably 1/100 of a penny saved per figure.

I'm not going to get carried away with this because overall I'm pleased with this new Scar. I'm sure you guys could knit pick it until the world ends! :p

i'm just going to say i'm perfectly happy with my classic scar in taylerdurdem's mask after seeing this proto. i heard some where they r making 1/4 versions as well?

Why would they bother with the Super predators dreads?

The dreads they used for this Scar is just a variation on the one they used on Classic:
