you weren't looking too hard - after 44 posts of mostly speculating about accessories, Wanderer calls out the sculpt.

Needle in a haystack.

What a perfect example of how this forum works nowadays. :dunno

Yeah, sucks having hyperbole called out by a search-nerd.

All of Hot Toys sculpts suck. Someone, name a figure and I can tear it down in two sentences or less.

I appreciate that very much, VDG. No hard feelings!

I think the source sculpts on the SSC line were just as strong as any of the best at HT, but where HT, for the most part, get a lot of love at production time, SSC, not so much. Then, on top of that many of the older SSC suffer from the Buck body making them look that much more toyish. But all the same, the right after market treatment, and the right pose to de-emphasize the limitations of Buck, these guys can shine.

Also, to give credit where it's due, all of my repaints were done by DarkArtist, Josh...

Cheers!
No worries. :duff

To be completely honest, the old Ford Hamill & Guiness sculpts are great, yeah - especially that Stormie Han.

The other thing that plagued those older figures too though, was the proportions. Over sized heads were killing them almost every time. :lol

And here I was thinking there would be a Leia update....lol

The old SSC figs look like constipated Robot Chicken dollies.

Compared to Hot Toys, yes, they do.

The repaints are awesome QuiGon. As others have said, while a little outdated in today's times and softer, those sculpts are better than anything HT has shown so far and the repaints you have fantastically show that off.

:rotfl I swear its only the Star Wars fans that complain about Hot Toys Sculpts. I have Hasbro Hans that are better than the SSC sculpt.

Repaint and resize... I will take these over any SSC Han Sculpt... ANH Han, Bespin Han, Hoth Han... especially Hoth Han.

Those are definitely great little 3 3/4" renditions, but they lack the detail necessary for a larger format like 1/6. Those examples just won't work well at all when scaled up and don't really compare to Sideshow nor Hot Toys' efforts. This is just a case of your eye/brain processing the tiny product and imagining detail where none exists, instead relying on memory to fill what's missing.

I think most people now have the perspective necessary to understand your initial comment: You don't know what you're talking about. ;)

I see two Richard Hatch, one Peter Coyote and a giant potato head.

Its all a matter of opinion. The SSC Han Solo sculpts are all bad to me. I will take Hasbro's over SSC.

Its all a matter of opinion.

People who are totally off base always come back with a similar comment, but it's really not at all about opinion in this case - not WRT which portraits look more like an actor anyway. It really doesn't matter how much you like 3 3/4 pea-sized heads, they are just a world apart from 1/6, such that comparing them serves no purpose other than to write something hyperbolic.

I'll repeat it again, those are nice 3 3/4 figures. Ok, the last one is only nice if you ignore the oversized head which doesn't belong on that body nor does it look like a Ford from the correct decade. The sculpts are also drastically different that they may as well represent different actors - yet we can see a bit of Ford in each. But it ends there. Discussing these with 1/6 is just silly.
