Blow a 3 3/4" up to 1/6 and savour the increased level of detail...

That one is awful, even for the scale. I actually still prefer the 1999 Commtech/POTJ Bespin and Death Star Escape Han figures to this day. When they started adding super-articulation they made him anorexic for some reason.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS293-294? - Star Wars Episode IV - 1/6th Luke Skywalker & Leia Organ

People who are totally off base always come back with a similar comment, but it's really not at all about opinion in this case - not WRT which portraits look more like an actor anyway. It really doesn't matter how much you like 3 3/4 pea-sized heads, they are just a world apart from 1/6, such that comparing them serves no purpose other than to write something hyperbolic.

I'll repeat it again, those are nice 3 3/4 figures. Ok, the last one is only nice if you ignore the oversized head which doesn't belong on that body nor does it look like a Ford from the correct decade. The sculpts are also drastically different that they may as well represent different actors - yet we can see a bit of Ford in each. But it ends there. Discussing these with 1/6 is just silly.

I forgot you have to always be right. What a horrible trait.

It's not about being right, it's simply about not being wrong - or rather, participating in the current topic instead of trying to slag something by bringing up a completely irrelevant subject.

:lol

That doesn't count. Its a jumbo Kenner vintage figure from Gentle Giant based off the one in 85? I think...

Well... comparing a 3 3/4 $10 head and a what $50+ head at time of release... there should be no competition from little old Hasbro with sculpts, sadly to me there is. The SSC Han Solo is the worst 1/6th scale figure I own. The GI Joe boots, horrible cheap body, terrible belt, decent clothes, and a head sculpt that is not good in my opinion. I will happily upgrade it with the great Hot Toys release.

Edit: Im sure my feelings towards the sculpt do not help that other aspects of the figure to me are not great, it probably brings my overall view on the sculpt down, but oh well. Im just happy Hot Toys is doing a better version.

1989 Joker

Granny hat made them sculpt him with slicked back, hat hair when his head should have been fuller/more rounded. The wrist socks makes hand swapping difficult and they were cheap not giving us museum parts for a second look.

The 5" inch Kenner sculpt from the early 90s was better. They should blow that up in 1/6 scale. Way better than Hot Toys' sculpt.

Han Solo knows where to find a dive hotel cheap.

Repaint, still looks nothing like Chris Evans save for the epic side burns. Hot Toys has yet to get on Toy Biz's level.

Yeah sorry but Anyone attempting to compare any 1:6 sculpt to a 3.75 scale sculpt is just plain crazy. I also thought pixelpipers posts were very even and fair.

There just no accounting for scale vs. perception. :lol

The left side is the spitting image of Cesar Romero. If HT was going for Cesar on the right, I agree it's a little off.

Hot Toys - MMS293-294? - Star Wars Episode IV - 1/6th Luke Skywalker & Leia O...

There are definitely some very impressive 3.75" SW figures that seem to max out what can be done at that scale but I don't think any of these Han figures showcase that. You'd have to start posting pics of some of Jabba's goons, like a gammorean guard, or Cantina folk.

I do think you can say something like ''relatively speaking, this 3.75 scale sculpt does a better job for its size at recreating Ford's likeness than the 1:6 scale sculpt does - considering the full potential of each respective scale.''

However I agree with Pixelpiper that you couldn't just upscale a 3.75 sculpt to 1:6 and expect it to fly. The lack of detail would be massively more apparent if you actually did it.

:lol You're in your element.

How about Blade, I always thought that sculpt was great.

And SWAT Gordon.

Cool, mock me more. Glad you are making yourself feel better.

Not crazy, I just forgot people on this forum tend to trash anything below $200. I don't know why they do.

I agree, but some of the people on here will mock me and try to force there opinion down my throat. I guess they just can't handle that a $10 figure from hasbro could be better than there precious 1/6th figures for some.

Thats what I was going for with the $10 vs $50 remark, should have elaborated more.
