Pre-ordered this guy with the April code ... Would've liked the damaged shield but maaaaybe I will be able to find it parted out. Never thought I would order a second Cap but here I am ... Bucky is next in May then perhaps my second Falcon.

Congrats.

I hear you regarding the BD shield. The interchangeable face pieces are more enticing to me though, personally. If I want it that bad, like you, I'll just find the BD shield parted out. However, I have a feeling that I'll probably like the look of the clean shield, so I probably wouldn't even use the BD shield even if I had it.

I'm generally not a fan of BD figures, unless it's generic BD. I don't particularly like it when it's scene specific, as it limits your pose options to me. You feel like you have to pose it in such a way that mimics that particular scene, or else it wouldn't be accurate.

If anything, I think I might be more inclined to pick up the sculpt of the BV figure than the BD shield. The helmet on that sculpt is a bit cleaner than the helmet on this version, which is ironic, so if I want a sculpt with a cleaner helmet to match the clean suit on this figure, it'd be nice to have that sculpt in reserve.

If it helps, I'm ordering the promo and then buying the non dupe parts from the regular. I think that's a good idea :dance

Thats a good idea but thing is: I might need the regular one instead of the movie promo cuz this will be my one and only cap (my first one like I said before), and a cleaned up version sounds better since a BD would represent a scene and not the whole. U gave me a great idea :duff... I think I'm gonna do the opposite of u. Well, maybe lol. I dont need that diorama but I will look for that BD shield. Sounds good, but need to be sure. I just need this God damn movie right now.

Very nice! :duff

What do you mean by the non-dupe parts though?

That's part of the reason why I'm getting the regular version as well. Generally, I'm not a fan of BD figures for the same reason you mentioned in your post. If I really want the BD shield, I'll find one parted on eBay. But as I mentioned, I think I might actually be more inclined to pick up the BV sculpt because the helmet on it seems a bit cleaner than the helmet on the sculpt with the regular version. So if I ever decide I want to have the helmet match the clean suit, I'll have that sculpt in reserve.

Can't go wrong with either version though, in my opinion. Both will undoubtedly turn out great.

Exactly :exactly:. Tbh I dont use any base or diorama that comes with a figure, thats why I wasnt going to use the diorama anyway. I always use my custom bases and museum pose, so all I need from the Movie Promo is the BD shield (and only if I need it). About the helmet on regular Cap I think it'll be clean. Thats just a prototype. Dont worry about buying another head. Well... I guess thats what I'm doing.

Same here.

The only diorama base I use is the base with the Mk 43, simply because it's too cool not to use. Also, the instructions recommend that you don't use any standard cradle stands with the die-cast figures (though the AoU WM uses a cradle stand, so I'm not sure about the veracity of this), so I follow them.

I'm hoping the helmet on the regular version is relatively clean. Doesn't have to be spotless without a scratch, but it would be preferred to perhaps be a little cleaner than what the prototype shows. Not a big deal though if it's not, but if it's not, I'll contemplate getting the BV sculpt as an alternative in case I ever want the stoic expression and want a clean helmeted look with it.

Well, I've 2 Iron Man (one of em is diecast, mark 42) and I use a standard stand lol. I was looking some pics of the movie promo edition and I hope that that body and suit are just prototypes, cuz if that is the final figure it looks baggy like AoU Cap (which means that the regular Cap will be like that also).

Hot Toys - MMS350 - Captain America: Civil War - Captain America Collectible ...

Had a little buyer's remorse after ordering this since I have AOU Cap but I'm pretty psyched to pair him with CW Bucky.

I also like that it looks darker and I plan on using the teethy sculpt ha

Same here for me. Except for ever having buyer's remorse. :lol

It was mostly due to the fact that I'm straying from my one-fig-per-character-save-Iron Man rule ... But I've been making and breaking rules since u began collecting .... Guess it's time for another display case.

I have a problem ha

Anyone know when his regular version will hit Hong Kong? Sold my AOU and I'm missing having a cap in my collection! Hoping Bucky will be released around the same time too

I watched Avengers a few nights back and didn't get the Cap hype. Watched The First Avenger today and now I know why. I might pick up a Cap. I'll have a few AoU figures shortly, but I can't get the AoU Cap for retail. It'd cost me roughly an extra $100 AUD to pick him up over this CW incarnation now. I think I might even prefer this version, but I'm worried it would bug me to have an AoU collection with a CW cap, if only because of the different stands.

First world problems.

To be honest as someone who really does like the AoU Cap I am really loving the slightly different styling to the suit, return of the shield straps and the faceplates so if I did not have the Cap I do I would be picking up the CW one (I am getting more and more tempted to do so anyway, same with Hawkeye, and I shouldn't be).

If you are planning on displaying them as a part of an AoU lineup and the base would bother you why not see if you can pick up an AoU base? I know it adds to the cost but it would keep the uniform bases which you seem to be looking for? I am building a roster of Avengers from different films so personally the bases are not bothering me so much, for me its more that Iron Man always seems to come with a dio base these days rather than the same the others are shipped with.

I might just do that. It would still end up cheaper than if I were to go for the AoU version. I also plan on picking up the 46 so I'd have that option of AoU or CW base for Cap.

Thanks for the tip!

Hi, I don't buy too many new HT figures (usually pick them up on the secondary market), do the Cap figures usually sell out before they're even released? Do I need to preorder this figure or are there usually some available a few weeks after release at the retail price?

With Cap, I wouldn't take the chance and wait it out to see what happens.
