Well the "AC Play Scarlet Witch War Version" arrived today and it's actually quite good for what it is. I feel like it's something I'd kitbash if I were trying to do this figure on the cheap. As disclosure, I do actually own the genuine Hot Toys version of this as well.
The head sculpt is pretty well done with clean paint apps and hair rooting. It's not HT level of paint apps, because let's face it, HT is miles above everyone on that, but it's got just enough shading and extra touches like the eye gloss where it's convincing and you won't be disappointed with it.
I'm not sure where the body is from, but it definitely was made with cheaper material. The torso appears to be a seamless type with the same rubber-like skin covering, but the coloring is off (a bit orange-y compared to the more realistic tone of the head), and it feels different from the HT one. There's a more distinct separation from the head and neck too, although it doesn't bother me too much.
The set only comes with 4 hands total, two regular passive non-gripping hands, and two slightly curled "magic" hands where there's the translucent red plastic used to simulate the effect of her using her powers. In the Hot Toys hands, the translucent plastic is seamlessly molded with flesh-toned plastic and look really cool. In the AC Play version, it looks like the entire hand was cast in the translucent plastic and the glove was painted on. If I were to guess, I'd say these might have been reject versions of the production HT hands where the flesh tone didn't make it into the casting process or failed, but these do have cleanly painted rings on her fingers.
The boots seem ok as do the pants, but the real star of the figure is probably the top of the costume. It looks nearly identical in quality to the HT one with all the intricate stitching of the different materials and details. They did not include black wrist gauntlets though, so the end of the sleeves seem unfinished.
Overall, this is a pretty convincing, if blatant knock off the NA figure. Interestingly, my original HT figure has somewhat floppy legs which I think is a known issue, but this AC Play does not have that issue, even with the cheaper body.
I'd say that collectors not into mods or kitbashes should probably stick to the real deal as there's enough nitpicks to make it not worth buying, particularly if you want a museum-quality display.
For those that are budget conscious, plan to make a custom fig, or just want to be able to play with their action figure without fearing damaging it, then maybe the AC Play is right for you.
I'm still in the process of taking pics, so maybe that will come later.
