I know the neck staining is a pretty widespread issue, but how bad is it? Like what would you say is the “average” extent of the staining?

Based on the feedback from this forum and also SS's response to customers, it seems pretty high...like in the 60-70% range of you getting one with some form of staining, either very minor to really horrific stains.

I sorta lucked out and got a very minor stained one, but it was still flawed enough for me to want to return it. I would say wait for the IW release, but HT will most likely not release one. Perhaps GOTG Vol. 3? So if you're a gambling person then go for it.

This is news to me, so I apologize if its been said... I'm not going back and checking every spoiler tagged post. I don't think this needs a tag.

So apparently there was an interview with howard where he said Iron Man mk 50 would likely come with more accessories than previously shown? I feel like that was likely anyway, but if true at least we can stop whining about the price.

I came across this screen shot... I'm not going to look for/watch the video because I wouldn't be able to understand it anyway.

The post above was originally posted on the Infinity War Iron Mean thread. So it seems that if you really like his look in Volume 2 (which I really do), then this is a must-buy. Otherwise, the next release may look different and there is no guarantee that people will like the next version (e.g. from feedback I heard about Ant Man).

I'm so torn man.

I really want the rocket boots and darker pants which come with the Vol 1 (which partially seem present on the IW), but the coat seems to be much easier to deal with on the v2, and of course the sculpts and body look better.

You could probably get the best of both worlds. I imagine that you can buy the Vol 1 pants and boots separately and use them for the Vol 2 figure.

Pretty hard to find some, especially the boots. And even then I haven't found any pants for under 40 bucks. Can't imagine what people want for the boots =P

Wow, I didn't realize that the pants were so hard to find. Personally, I'm happy with the Vol 2 look as is but I feel for those who want the Vol 1 pants.

There is a note on the product page at Timewalker Toys that they are aware of the staining issue but all of the Star-Lords they currently have in stock are stain-free. How they would know this without opening them, I do not know. But I took a chance and ordered one last night.

I would prefer they open and check, than be in the "stain lottery" any day.

Mine has some minor staining, but I'm still working the scarf treatment.

No change as yet. However next will be the pimple cream treatment I think.

Good luck with that! I've been looking.

This is exactly what I did. I have the Vol. 2 figure and I bought the Vol. 1 boots and pants from an ebay seller a few weeks ago. At the time I bought from this ebay seller, they had 2 of both the boots and the pants.

As predicted the response the UK retailer got from Sideshow was the standard, 'use a magic eraser' BS. (That may work well on polystone statues Sideshow... But I don't think this delicately painted soft-rubberised plastic will cope so well. Let alone the issue on my figure being obviously deeper than a surface stain. ) Still, he's asked for photos of when it inevitably doesn't work, and it sounds like Sideshow will be getting a whole set of 'your "solution" is nonsense' images from his customers so... Fingers crossed.

Just received mine from Timewalker. They were right, no staining.

There was a piece of plastic wrapped around the neck to prevent that.

I held off on ordering but decided to get it during their Marvel sale. The no staining note sold me on it, along with the fact that it’s unlikely we’ll get an IW version.

this is one figure i had not contemplated on getting but am glad i did, i got mine with slight staining on one side but its not too visible. if we didnt have too much other stuff coming from IW and hopefully Deadpool i think i'd pull the trigger on Yondu.

Sorry mate Yondu is a must. Watch GotG 2 again and tell me you don't need him.....

I agree. The quality of the sculpt (the proto one at least) and the fact that Yondu was awesome in both films means he's a must :lecture

Not to mention he's kind of a secondary character ( though arguably more upfront in vol2) that I kind of like the idea of supporting a release like that. Who knows if Yondu does well they might more strongly consider Nebula or a similar background character.

Timewalker still has the regular version but it is not on sale anymore. Below is an excerpt from an email I got from them when I asked about the staining.

As soon as we heard about the staining issue through the forum, we checked all of our Star-Lord inventory for any issues. We also added plastic around the necks to prevent the issue during shipping.

We are all collectors here and understand the importance of problems like this. Hot Toys should have put the plastic wrap on themselves, since they add it to just about everything else these days.

I'm still confused why they didn't do that this time. Yours will be protected until you receive it.
