The Matrix works because, as in Star Wars, the actors weren't so "big" they overshadowed the role - though Connery could have lent an Alec Guinness-style gravitas to Morpheus.

That said, I have no complaint about Fishburne.

I was watching the making of the Matrix and the actors spent like 5 straight months training and learning the fight choreography. There's no way Connery at his age would have been able to pull of the fight scenes with Neo or Agent Smith.

Maybe Connery's Morpheus had no fight scenes.

Fishburne was perfect.
He was old enough to play a wise man but young enough to take part in the action and make it believable.
Plus he had unique facial features which added to the whole unorthodox look of the main cast.

One of my favorite things about the Matrix is the switch between the glamorous look they all have in the Matrix (the residual self image) and the common looks they had In the real world....

Very refreshing to see them use fairly common looking actors..

Will Smith turned down the role of Neo when they wouldn't add more comedy. Sean Connery turned down the role of Morpheus. Thank God we didn't get the Wachowskis first choices for either character.

I would loved to have seen a senior citizen Sean Connery flipping around kung fu fighting Smiths on top of a semi truck trailer .

I got an official response from the costume designer, Kym Barret, regarding the color of Smith's suit in the first film.

Hi Tony

Thx for your kind words
Agent Smith's Suit was a dark green will suit
in the first Matrix
Best
Kym

There you have it, it's not black or grey, it was a dark green, so HT better do their research. It didn't take me long to contact the designer herself, and I'm a nobody. :lol

Awesome. Someone should pass this info on to Hot Toys if possible because you know they'll just assume it was a black suit.

That's pretty cool that you got a response from her.

I'm afraid most people probably remember it as black, so HT will probably go with the "public perception" rather than strict screen accuracy. Green might look weird anyway (especially if Neo is in black).

Nice work. Maybe inspired after Tarkin’s olive suit.

I love how people think they need to email Hot Toys about how to design an outfit, its not like they’re a multi million dollar company that has been doing this for years and made hundreds of screen accurate items, im sure they dont need Roger the gas station worker from Ohio giving them business advice.

The outfit may be dark green for camera in a film but it might not work for a figurine. Im sure HT are doing what they think will work best.

Hey! don't pick on Roger, he is a awesome guy. Always gives me great deals on tires and made a fantastic suit for my John Wick figure.

Iminime's Smith suit is green and it looks fantastic.

They did their research. Hot Toys on the other hand is doing what they think will work best only in the sense that they're doing the bare minimum required to sell units to indifferent fans.
