the one on the Left is the medicom
The middle is hot toys,
and the right one is TAKARA!!!!!!!!!

Man thank you for that picture!!!!! I tell ya this picture says a hell of alot more than words can! The Takara is amazing and likewise the Hot Toys version! Now I see what you guys are saying about the Medicom version, he does look like someones little brother. :lol

My only dilema is that I was offered the Medicom version MIMB for $115. NOW WHAT?

The Hot toys sculpt is so bad that it's a deal breaker for me. There isn't enough differences in the suit for that to be an influence. The Takara sculpt is dead-on and the neck joint so he can look up, makes it far superior to the HT one. The Medicom sculpt is even better than the HT.

I think the Medicom sculpt is better as well. Of those three I think looking at them all now I'd go Takara, Medicom, HT. I cannot believe how cool the Takara one looks and will be quite excited when I get mine.

Thats the picture ive been looking for,i knew i had seen it here earlier, thanks lerath666.
Hot toys or Medicom isnt a option for me for this Batman,it will be Takara, cant wait for the re-issue,toys2.net says March so its a long time to wait:monkey2

I was thinking about waiting for a Dark Knight figure from Hot toys, but i doubt they can make it any better than than Takara did,so Takara for me...

I hope this picture helps your decision, look how crappy Medicom and Hot Toys look besides Takara.

Screw it! I'm going to buy the Medicom, sure its smaller but i'm all about sculpts and the Medicom looks good. However, the Takara is "head and shoulders above" the better figure, no question, but I am not willing to pay $165 (before shipping) for it and I don't feel like waiting 3-4 months to get it.

Takara is amazing by far but we all have our budgets!

Medicom it is.

Medicom Batman is too skinny, not very macho, hope its a good figure for you and that you wont regret buying it.

For me its Takara,or no Batman, the other 2 is pure garbage for me,but i can understand that you wont pay up that much for a Takara, its expensive.

Sure you can buy a crappy Batman, but still no Trautman for the same price?:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

:rotfl:lol:rotfl You ass! Because of you I always search for a Trautman, not to buy but just to see if I "could" still get it!

Believe it or not I STILL have no desire for Trautman! :D

The Medicom Batman will look great in my collection, can't wait, now on the other hand if you look at the above picture he looks small and wienerish standing side-by-side! How many of us will ever have all three in their collection standing on a shelf together?

No regrets.

Yeah this bugs me still, you have a complete Rambo collection but no Trautman, and you call yourself a serious Rambo fan?

Oh i know you want to....the last link has a good comparison of the 3 figures.

Hot Toys Bats is actually one of their worst sculpts I'd say. The head mold looks more like Batman from the Burton/Schmaucher movies with its really tall ears and long nose.

Also, the suit was made TOO bulky for the body that it is on...so ultimately it just made him look chubby.

HT did fantastic with Supes...Bats didn't follow suit.

Takara hands down! You are gonna end up paying close to the Takara price, possibly more, for the older hard to find Hot Toys version anyway.

The HT Bats has the weakest head/cowl/sculpt by far IMO.

Well, I noticed (and I'm sure all the other Hot Toys collectors here have) that HT headsculpts are improving with each new release.

Here's hoping that their "The Dark Knight" headsculpts would match TAKARA's! I'm very impressed with what they've done with actor likenesss in their recent sculpts especially their Prison Break and Pirates of the Caribbean ones. And of course, like you mentioned, the latest Superman!

We shall wait and see.....

Oh no friggin' doubt about it I think Hot Toys is now #1 at head sculpts after some of their more recent endeavours. They've definitely kicked Sideshow off that throne in my opinion.

It was just early on they didn't have the keen detail that they certainly have now. It was around the release time of these two DC movie figures along with the ALIENS & AvP figures that Hot Toys really began to get more attention....and with that came more sales and money...and with the money...better sculptors perhaps?

If I remember correctly, most of the recent headsculpts from figures like Prison Break and Pirates of the Carribean were done by a Chinese girl called Yulli (hey, I'm Chinese too!). There was a blog somewhere, but its in Chinese.

I've got a couple of pics saved somewhere of her work - she did an Angelina Jolie and George Lucas.

I'm sure they have plenty of good sculptors - but if she has been doing the major ones lately, lets hope she doesn't suffer burnout! :D

I'd have to agree with you all the way. Ive always said that the HT batman looks way to chubby because the suit isnt form fitting to the body underneath. But others are adamant that it is accurate to Bale's size..... Imo they need better glasses. Also the headsculpt and nose of the HT batman is atrocious. Another thing, the clasps of the cowl are two separate pieces and look like they are just floating on his upper chest area, kind of strange to look at when they are supposed to be one piece with the cowl.

This is one of those things that will be argued back and forth and alot has to do with personal taste and preference. If you look at the film and take a look at him from as many angles as you can you'll see that realistically, the hot toys is the most accurate figure. The suit and hte headsculpt overall. The headsculpt is better ont he tak mainly because its got better character, but its not nessecarily totally accurate and hampered by the neck cut.

The HT is actually very close, its biggest mistake is his cleft chin, the face isn't bale in a glance, but he didnt exactly look like himself most of the time, you can even look at shots where he looks alot like the figure:
bbhead.jpg

As for the nose, it really WAS that big
bbnose.jpg

Its one of the features to try and make his cowl more frightening, the pointed ears hooking fowards, the deep scowl in the brows, and the sharp nose.

And the suit with him in it, is BULKY as hell, especially when he did anything but stand
bbcrouch.jpg

It was never anywhere near as tight as the taks, except maybe in the close ups of bruce in the suit in the cave at the waterfall. In real filming and most scenes, the suits fairly bulky, i mean its a full neoprene suit, with rubber armor all over it, and this is on top of a 200 pound man, its not going to be that thin and its going to be bulky. Look at alot of the promo shots, like the white background ones the first to really show the suit and he's bulky and thick. Its actually accurate.

You can think he looks fat, and he kinda does, but its that way in the movie for the most part. THe new TDK suit is much slimmer, and i think bale is too, so its alot of difference, the tak figure is actually more towards that look than the begins suit.

Good points bigfoot, everything you mentioned makes alot of sense, i've always noticed the nose part too. This thread was alot of help, I think all 3 are awesome in their own ways, Medicom is a shorter figure but all in all I liked it enough to buy it yesturday.

Believe me if I could actually find a Hot Toys or Takara one I would have considered it but the Medicom one was available and at an excellent price. I'll post pics when it arrives, either way this figure was LONG OVERDUE for my collection.

Thanks to everyone for your input, much appreciated!

If there's one fault I'd point out about the Takara, it'd be the cape. I have no issues with the size, I think its big enough. But after looking at the HT and Medicom capes, those look so much better in quality with the double layers etc.

But I love my TAKARA Batman, and I'm thinking of getting the re-release!

Here are some closeup shots of my Takara Bats, sorry but they're abit grainy.
