also, is the tak re-release going to be different than the original release?

how well does the suit of the takara hold up? ive heard stories.

What sort of stories have you heard exactly?

This was the first release that I have, don't exactly when it was released but I got mine back in July 2006. Don't have any issues of it so far, but then again, I didn't put him in any extreme poses, just the standard arms at his sides.

The reason being, its a full rubber suit, I don't know if putting him in the arms upright as a permanent pose, for example, will affect the rubber when the suit creases.

The only issue right now, is that dust sticks to the suit and its a pain to remove!

also, is the tak re-release going to be different than the original release?

Haven't read anything about it being different so as far as I know, its a straight up re-release.

It'd be nice if they changed the cape though, like the Medicom or HT Batman Begins cape. Thicker and double-layered. That would be awesome :D

And if anyone is wondering how big the cape actually is, here it is:

Both of these issues have been addressed in Michael Crawford's review as well.

But all said, I'm very, very happy with my choice! It's my favourite figure in my collection.

The Hot toys sculpt is so bad that it's a deal breaker for me. There isn't enough differences in the suit for that to be an influence. The Takara sculpt is dead-on and the neck joint so he can look up, makes it far superior to the HT one. The Medicom sculpt is even better than the HT.

Those words could have been written by me....:lecture

I don't think the HT headsculpt is that bad, it is nice and Bale does have a huge snout, just look at the screen crabs. HT does have the far better boots, accessories and a awesome cape. It's downfall is the suit isnt form fitting and there is no waist/upper leg articulation.

I wouldn't say "no waist/leg articulation" its there just requires care and patience in posing. But the same could be said for any figure with a suit like this, hell i don't go nuts with my medicom symbiote spidey either i dont want the suit to rip its just being careful:

I just wouldn't leave him in extreme poses, because it will eventually wear out the suit and im sure the same could be said for taks, even though its capable of more poses easier, i'd still be careful with an all rubber suit. HT is just limited in all his poses, the articulation is there and useable just not to the extent it could be in other suits. But i can live with that because it gets the look right and to me thats what 1/6 is for, to recreate the real thing in a small scale thats poseable. And HT bats nails that.

Though i'll say if i hadn't managed to get the HT bats, i'd preorder the tak rerelease cause its a very cool figure on its own even with its flaws, just like HT.

Obviously, the rubber suit on Takara doesnt hold up on a long term, that is a big issue for me and i am not sure right now if i should buy the Takara or not, after studying closer the nose looks too short on Takara as well.

Just like HT early rubber figures, they easily cracked, have anyone had any problems with the rubber body on Takara?

I don't understand why people always use this claim? where is the proof? I had takara batman over the HOT southern california summer and NOTHING...

Well I throw my HT Bats in a 375 degree oven (non-greased cookie sheet) every other day and store him in the freezer the rest of the time and he's just fine.

You know we still have several months away till the Dark Knight and it could be very well that all three of these companies are AGAIN in possession of the license and are working on brand new figures as we speak...but they may not show them until later.

On top of Batman (in his new outfit), we have two other great possibilities with the Joker and Two-Face. I expect maybe the same quality from Medicom if they do anything at all...and possibly with Takara as well since they are a larger company and may not care so much about the quality of the materials they use like they did with their Batman Begins figure. Now if Hot Toys also has it I think they'll be the one to look out for because I think their Batman might be the one which will be leaps and bounds above their first one...not only in sculpt but they make take a few tips from the Takara version to make it more poseable with such a tight-fitting suit.

I actually wouldn't put it past Hot Toys to "re-do" their original Batman Begins figure and do a "2-in-1" with Bats/Bruce Wayne like they did with Superman.

i am hoping for dark knight figs from any company myself. but batman has a new suit in the new movie so they probably wont rehash anything.

The biggest thing for me now is getting a decent Joker at a good price. I hope all 3 (Medicom, HT, Takara) make him!

Unless they are already doing a Joker and I don't know?

as much as I like michael crawford, HES NOT GOD! don't tell me his review affects your opinion on a figure in any way.
I was pretty scared that the armor was going to give in too when I had mine, but all fears went away after a few months of having him.
When I see a picture of the armor disintegrating then I'll take my words back.

Takara hands down! You can't beat the head sculpt. They have the jaw down.

I don't think you can even compare the Medicom to either HT or Takara, they got out classed in the sculpting department.

No Crawford didnt affect me that much,if you read posts in this thread you will see that some people are saying the same.Obviously it comes down to how you threat the figure,i think ill be fine as i never pose any figure in extreme positions.

Thanks for bringing some light over the Takara Venakin,i may buy it after all...

I also think that the Hot Toys version is better than people give it credit for.

That said, however, I am definitely picking up the Takara version upon its re-release and that will now be my definitive Bale BATMAN figure. :rock
