I think how "playable" the PL matters in how it'll be used; for someone who'll set it up on a shelf or something for display, the worn paint apps and all will make it look fantastic. For someone like me who also plans to photograph and do creative things with it, the more poseability the better.

Mmmm, I don't have this on order ( bit big for my purposes), so I wasn't anticipating this as much as most of you guys so here goes . I think it looks good , but not awesome . It looks a little too "plasticky" and the paint job looks a little slapdash . Doesn't give the impression of the "heft" of the 1/1 version. It would most likely be a great re-paint project , but at this price it should have a " museum quality " finish . Sorry Guys , just saying it as I see it .

No need to apologise dude.
However, I think the price is pretty much fine for what we're getting.

I think this is one piece that really makes me comfy with the end price. The engineering time put into making the design work and match to the film mixed with the fact it has lamps in the pit area and a rotating/blinking light at the top like in the film, there's a lot going on with this piece, small details, but details that add all the more value to the overall. I'd rather have a semi-toyish looking piece with real functioning lights than an unlit, more realistic piece.

I agree, this is a great figure for the money.I have no problems dishing out $250 for this bad boy and you know it's gonna sky rocket in price later on,so get it for $250 while it last.

I agree with you Chavez, however, not so much with Maulfan on this one.

"I'd rather have a semi-toyish looking piece with real functioning lights than an unlit, more realistic piece"?

Not me. Give me realistic over lights any day. It is also much easier to install lights than it would be to make a toy appear more realistic.
(lights =$100 tops, while paint =$400 for a good job , Power Loader 10 years from now...Priceless. "For everything else..there's Master Card".)

I don't have the means to ship out or self install lighting, so I'd rather the thing come pre-done with lights.

I understand and respect your opinion...I simply don't agree with you this time. :D

I understand your point too, the ideal situation is both things. I should probably clear up, I wouldn't ask HT to make a toyish piece with lights, just in this instance, if that's how it comes out, at least we get the lights which in my mind makes up for the shortcomings in a big way.

brilliant. :rotfl:rotfl

:lol

This piece IS brilliant. Engineering, fig included, functioning lights, detail beyond my imagination, excellent paint apps, you guys can weather it or smudge it at almost no cost, but I prolly won't.

The DSC price: Priceless.

True. I like the lights. I'm glad that they included Ripley too.

And tnx Reinhardt. :)
I knew if I didn't get the Power Loader now... I'd really regret it later. :bunnydanc

i think it looks fine and i don't see it as toyish looking...now it has a doll manning it so that may add a more toyish appearance. overall i'd feel better paying $199 for it but I think it's a fair price and it is a toy engineering masterpiece. hats off to HT, again.

Wow... you guys want your toys cheap.:lol

Ripley by herself sold for 90 bucks... now the stripped down Ripley that comes with the PL would be about 70, leaving 180 for the power loader which is amazing considering ED-209 was 200 alone.

I have mine on pre-order from Alterego for $212. That's closer to the $199, and I have NO problem with that. I'm SUPER excited to have this piece in hand! :rock

i wish i had gotten on that boat before it sailed. i didn't really think i would keep the order but ordered from SS just in case.....oh I just checked and it still available....i'm canceling SS's order now and going with Alter Ego.

All valid points , but to clarify my point about "value" , as I'm here in the U.K , I'd expect to pay around £250 , which translates to about $500 ! If I was paying half that , the P.L would be a far more attractive proposition . And it IS a nice piece , just not a £250 piece!

£150... that's still a lot of money. €214. I've ordered the power loader from Sideshow, and when it arrives at my door, I will have paid about $340/£167/240€.

Goes to show that there is a strange logic in the prices of 12" collectibles.
