have any of the customizers contemplated mounting a sound chip in this to play the mechanical workings of this sweet beast? that would be sweet as hell.

Yeah, Dekdave did before he got banned, even offered a way to do cage lights for us before HT came through...

This is taller than the Warrior by quite a bit, scale-wise. The warrior is 15", this is 22" to the antennae tip I believe.... so it is prolly 17-18" tall at least, realistically...

More Pics..Thanks to XL

This is just Absolutely INSANE!!!!
I just can not wait for mine!

One thing to note, there's no pictures of the wrists turning sideways or the claws closing. It may be too early to tell, so I hope there's a bit more articulation then it seems.

I'm sure the wrists (claws) turn/rotate. Would be nice to get some confirmation though...

Yep, that's good to know that Hot Toys has put some articulation in there. Hopefully the arms and legs of the PL are moveable too! I am happy to hear that there is the real rotating light on the top of it, and the other light shining on Ripley inside the PL's cage/cockpit. :D

pjam, did he post this? and if he did can you point me in the right direction?

He sure did, but I recall it was in the Aliens superthread which has now been locked because it was eating everything in its path. In fact it was SO big Darklord Dave had to create a new Forum, this forum...

If I remember he also described how he would do an audio chip in the ED 209 thread so you may find some info there... I do remember we were discussing where to put it and Dave had pretty much everything worked out, in the back somewhere, hidden with all the hoses and whatnot.

thanks, i will do a little searching. that was the first thing i thought of when i saw the pl for the first time. i said i hope this thing has lights and sound. well one out of two aint bad, but a sound chip would just be awesome.

A sound chip would be cool, but to really work in an authentic manner, the sounds would have to fire when the PL is in motion, there was a slight hum for the engine running, but the cool sounds came when a piece of the PL would motion, it might be weird in the end to have sound going off with the PL sitting still in your display.

i saw it the other day so it's out there...i'm too lazy to find it though.

im sure it could be done but would take some serious engineering to make like say the arm motion when it was extended or moving or the thud of the foot when it was jarred a bit (not too hard.....that's a $250 item !!!):lol. but i think of the mr fx lightsabers and how they sound when swung and clash and think that it is a possibility. and while this all may sound cool as hell i would not know where to begin but ive lurked on this board enough and seen enough of the amazing things people do with this scale across the spectrum to think someone could pull it off.

To save people sifting through the other forum, here's the lowdown from the PL in hand:

1) It's not as heavy as it looks, very light.

(2) Movement are very limited.

(3) Very 'plasticky' feels like can break the the joints easily, very fragile.

(4) The size is not entirely up to scale, seems abit smaller.

Interesting commentary. It still looks fantastic, and I believe the lights in the cage are long vertical ones as they should be, one picture throws it off though because there's also a horizontal light crossbar.

interesting. well, the thing LOOKS fantastic.

people said that ED-209 was very light as well, but I thought it was fine.

as for the lights, it's hard, but it looks like the right vertical bar does not have one, but like you said Maul, it could be the angle.

Nevertheless, i must have.

I dont think people should be worried about a lack of atriculation in this piece. I think this peice really captures the essence of its purpose in the movie, to look mean, bulky and heavy thus putting Ripley on a more even playing field in a fight with the Queen.

By its very nature the PL cant give huge range of dymanic poses, I mean Ripley didn't perform acrobatics in this thing by any means lol. Im sure theres a decent amount of movement in the arms . . plenty to get those "alien head caught in the claws" shots :rock

Have to admit I've never expected too much articulation from this piece, though I'm hoping to be pleasenly surprised. But I'm with Stendec, it's all about it just being there in all it's glory!

Mmmm, I don't have this on order ( bit big for my purposes), so I wasn't anticipating this as much as most of you guys so here goes . I think it looks good , but not awesome . It looks a little too "plasticky" and the paint job looks a little slapdash . Doesn't give the impression of the "heft" of the 1/1 version. It would most likely be a great re-paint project , but at this price it should have a " museum quality " finish . Sorry Guys , just saying it as I see it .
