Hey Ill, is this thing difficult to disassemble? Does it go back in the box and pull apart easily without problems? Not that I want to eve put mine away when I get it but I still would like to know. :monkey5
Not really, the most difficult part was removing the rods on the back those were a b!tc#, but the rest was a breeze. Hot Toys really did a good job on making sure it could be put together and taken apart with little problem. It also fits back in the box perfectly. :)

I think I will operate the siren when I am shaving. That way I won't hear it or know the difference. :lol

Seriously, I'd rather have a functioning siren than not. It adds a mechanical machine-like sound so I'm cool with it. Maybe we can figure out a way to muzzle it a bit.

The cage lights are a welcome bonus. They weren't originally planned or shown as we discussed in the old Aliens Monster thread. Dekdave, Wor-Gar and I were talking about how to install them, then BAM!, HT came through for us.

Hopefully Hurricane will be able to figure out a way to disable the annoying sound when the light is on! That would be nice. I love the light, but that sound...:monkey4 from Ill Jed's video it sounds like a cheap razor or something!

I would think it to be very hard to muffle the noise on the little gears they have in there to make the light spin. It's a fair trade-off to me to have the light spinning from time to time. As IllJedi said, you're only going to have it on once in a while, probably when friends check it out.

Rather than muffle the sound, I'd love Hurricane to work out a sound chip of the movie mechanics sound of the PL. That would drown out the toy noise, or at least bury it under the "Clump-Clump-CLUMP" from the actual movie.

Maybe he can use the sound from that video showing the PL costume that guy made. He had the movie sounds on that video -- just need to transfer the sound element to a chip somehow. A sound chip from one of the Talking Hasbro figures. I just don't know how to 'record' onto those. But in theory...

That's a good idea too...using sound clips from the movie of the power loader moving around or even walking. I'm up for that over the annoying "buzzing" sound that HT has for the light right now.

I was thinking about that the other day, but the clumping sounds don't really work unless the thing is walking or you are posing it "in rem".

On the other hand the mechanical wheezing gears sounds might work. As far as muzzling the beacon motor, some kind of buffer would have to be wrapped or puttied around the base of the motor inside which means cutting it out and getting inside of the frame, but I would love to hear 'Canes thoughts on all of this.

Although I am a Star Wars fan through and through. And LOTR is a very close second, and The Alien movies come in at about 5th or 6th place. I actually think this may be the SINGLE coolest collectible toy ever made. At about 275.00 shipped, I am not sorry for a penny of the cost.

Edit - It is going to be a task to get any really good action pictures of this piece...but the articulation does allow for it and so it shall be.

They do make sound chips that can record a small sample and then play it back; the trick is going to be figuring out where in the power loader to install it, as (from my observations thus far, anyway) there aren't many easy-to-access "empty" spots inside it.

I'm planning to convert mine to run off of AC instead of batteries, so that will free up the space actually inside the battery compartment itself, though this is a bit down my list of customizations.

As far as electronic mods go, my choice would be installing a motion sensor and having Ripley shout "Get away from her, you *****!" whenever anyone is in close proximity....

Got pics of your Gridy?

Hey Ill!! How heavy is it?

I will be to busy making hydraulic noises and "power loader sounds" to even hear it.

BUSHHSHSHHS....CHUZZZ....XUUSHSHS....CHUZZZZ......ERNNSINVVVZZZ..

Well, you know what I mean:D

All I got to say is...
THIS THREAD ROCKS!

You lucky guys! Great vid Ill! Great to hear you at last.
And you others with pics, awesome!

I look forward to what I can get. Turns out my sister's family is hitting town the same day my PL is delivered, so I may not get to it for a day or so. My little nephews may let me build it though. :D Gonna be one to do alone I think. I don't want to mess mine up.

Great stuff guys! Can't wait to see the Gifs of Doom! Bring 'em on, Pj and WG! Can't wait!!!!:chew

THIS THING IS SO SICK...
IT'S ILL!
:lol

Les et al, I may leave the GIF on this to the GIF Lord Wor-GIF. Tough for me to shoot with a 3.2 with no tripod, therefore tough to lock the shot.

I have some shots and a Vid planned though. Won't get mine till a week from Wed or so, so hang in there and Post up a storm guys.

Very cool Ill, great to see everyone enjoy this piece, nice to come back to some pictures and videos too :) Can't wait til Wednesday.
