Mine's comming next week along with the Dog Alien Maquette,Holy shnike's I cant wait to set these up together along with the rest of my Alien collection.:chew

I am in the midst of putting mine together. A word of warning to all who recieve theirs in the near future. Be VERY careful putting it together! All the joints are very stiff, and many of the parts aren't glued very well. I am going to have to re-glue a few pieces to get this together.

The large, long hydraulic cylinders on the back are the weakest point and at least for me were the stiffest parts. Both of the small black pieces that pop into the balls joints on the bottom of the silver shafts broke off when I was trying to extend them enough to attach them. Not enough glue was used.

The exact same thing happened to another guy on the Sci-Fi Military forum. You can see pictures here: https://www.scifimilitary.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1316

Also, part of the cage that surrounds Ripley came off due to poor gluing also. :(

Just FYI. Take your time and BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL!!!!!!

Congrats on your score, but damn that sucks. :(
Hope you get that **** fixed.

Thanks for the heads up too. I read that post over at Sci-Fi before, and I was affraid this would happen.

Thanks FACEBOX.

While this model is very cool, this problem will definitely effect others. It is a design flaw. Those cylinders are WAY to stiff, and forced to support the arms when they are perpendicular to the rest of the model.

As others have stated, this model should not be played with. It is too fragile. It should be posed into a cool position and left static. It will inevitably break otherwise.

It's THAT fragile huh?
I hate that all that articulation will be going to "waste", but better have a fragile PL than not have one at all.

I guess Hot Toys had to cut back on production costs in order to make this more affordable to us collectors.

Any tips on how to get the pistons loose without breaking them?
Should I use soap or something?

The thing with those rear cylinders is that they are indexed. They click in and out at set intervals. If they moved in and out smoothly like the rest of the cylinders, This would not be a problem. That is why it is a design flaw.

The only way to get the cylinders to move more smoothly is just to move them in and out a whole bunch. I tried putting some gun oil on them and it made no difference.

Yes, unfortunately, this thing is pretty fragile. It is fragile because the joints are so stiff. The stiffness causes stress on the parts that will break easily. :(

Once it is posed though, it really is an amazing piece to look at.

I'm having flashbacks of my alien warrior's two broken knee joints. Hot Toys makes some cool stuff, but so far I am not impressed with its durability at all. I hope mine doesn't break.

Sorry for the delay Gents, took forever to upload the pics and video.

All I have to say is this is one sick piece, Hot Toys has truly outdone themselves. Once again their attention to detail is amazing and the sheer size of it will leave you in awe, it is another engineering marvel on par with the Endoskeleton. I love it and it was totally worth the wait!! Here a few pics followed by a short video.

Nice suitcase style package...

Bad asss is right!!!! Awesome to see it from one of our own at last! I love that you can post movies of things like this. It's not only fun to see something "live" but also to see someone's living space and hear their voice. :rock

Oh, and thanks for the mention! I definitely want to try my hand at a Wor-GIF with this bad boy!

Thanks man!! I had fun putting it together and taking the vid and pics. Trust me, you don't want to see the rest of the living space, it's littered with boxes! :D

I really can't wait to see what you do with the animated 'Wor-Gif', it's gonna :rock!!!

Is it me or is the Alien in pic 5 giving Ripley the finger?.... nice job by the way
:monkey5

Great work Ill Jedi! Did you put on the hoses on the back of your power loader yet? How hard was it to put them on if you've done it by now? I heard those can be tricky too. That stinks though about the pistons problem, and the cheap glue job HT did on it! You would think for such a high-end, or at least high-priced quality product they'd would have done better!

I'll post some pictures after I get mine, and pose my custom Newt near the PL too. I'll try to post a video or two also since I use Photo Bucket like you do. Do you plan on repainting your Ripley's hair and eyes? I am. Just like I did for the other Ripley so she looks more like Sigourney. I may even give her a more "angry" look for the PL Ripley.

Once again...great job! I agree it's cool to see vids from board members and hear their voices too. :D

I just can't wait to get mine in! It is "supposed" to be here next Tuesday. I hope it is!

I heard about this piston problem -- the sticking thing -- but thought it might have just been the one time. I had some "sticking" issues with my Luke Bespin's elbows -- totally locked like glue -- but a HAIRDRYER worked wonders safely. I'd assume a hairdryer to heat the pistons would also help loosen them. There's no way I'd want to risk snapping them off, or have the thing go flying out of my hands.

Also, anyone got a film still or picture of the back of the movie PL so we can see how the hoses are organized on the real thing?

Ill Jedi can you post some pictures of your PL with the hoses attached after you've done it for us to see them in their spots on the back? Thanks!

:D Thank you for the kind words Sir P!!

Just got mine and got it together. Drat... out of AA batteries.

The hoses are not as much of a pain in the *** as I feared. Whole assembly took about 45 minutes.

Also, the charger for my camera just broke, so no pics until I replace that (hopefully tonight).

Over all, it's an incredible piece, and equals (if not surpasses) Jabba in terms of OH HOLY **** THAT'S AWESOME!
About those cylinders, yeah they are a bit stiff, but if you use caution you will not break them.

From what I've seen so far, it seems best if you hold onto these pieces and extend and contract them to move the arms. I would not advise trying to move the arms without holding these pieces.

While it's a bit tricky learning how to manipulate the arms with this ratchetting, I think in the long run we'll be glad they are kind of stiff, as I doubt that the really heavy arms would be able to hold poses if the pistons were any looser.
