Oh, yes it's like that, bright at the source and fading gradually the further from the source it gets.

Thanks, I'll be doing more at some point, but this thing definitely comes with it's own set of photographic rules, much different from regular 1/6 figures, so when time permits, experimentation with different settings.

BTW, if you hadn't noticed yet -- the Stormtrooper blaster is back on!!!!

Thanks for the help!!!

Boy, do I hear that! It took me over an hour to set up shots of this due to its scale... I had to construct a set table, take shots from all kinds of angles to include other figures and avoid perspective distortion... and I still couldn't hack it right, but I got most of what I wanted. I took over 80 shots to get 10, but then again, that's me. :lol

Take your time Sean, believe me, I know what you mean.

I hear ya Paul. To add to my calculations, I'm trying to do more dark shots as the warrior looks better in moody lighting. It'll be fun. More than anything, I'm relieved it's working fine and I look forward to adding wear and tear.

Thanks to SSC and their awesomeness... I can finally re-order the Powerloader! :rock

Second chance has finally allowed for FlexPay!! :banana

BACK IN THE GAME, BABY! :blissy

just got confirmation that my 'second chance' PL has been shipped....:D

have also got my hands on the Marine set as well....oh bring on the displays...will post pics when they are all together with my predator/alien purchases...hot toys are just the way to go...

Very nice, care to share what your lighting setup was for this shot?
The subject was shot several times with different light sources, the way VFX companies take several passes of model shots. Here, once for the main light alone, the next for several blue lights alone, and the cage light alone as well.
In Photoshop I pile all these photos in one file and use the "lighten" blending mode for each layer.

"Looks at the color information in each channel and selects the base or blend color—whichever is lighter—as the result color. Pixels darker than the blend color are replaced, and pixels lighter than the blend color do not change."

The cage bleed-through was masked out, letting the unlit cage come through. The main light was flourescent so it was cool, but I added an extra blue tint at left. So yeah, it's a total cheat, but the process worked out to my satisfaction (and I had only one tiny blue pen light ).

Ohhh, ok thanks for sharing that. Great work there, I'd have never guessed it to be a composite shot it looks like a single image. Composite shots aren't fun, I did it with some Sideshow Jabba images I took because I needed a behind glow and a frontal fill light; keeping from bumping the subject and the tripod is not easy to keep the images lined up right, takes a lot of patience, especially with something geometric like the loader versus organic like creatures and people, there you can at least fudge a thing or two.

There are digital cameras out there like my ol' Canon G3 that include a IR remote control for just that purpose. But in this instance I set the shutter release to delay 10 seconds on a little Canon SD800 to let the camera wobble settle itself out.

Ya, I have a remote for my Rebel XTi. I don't bump anything taking the shot, but sometimes incidental contact happens between shots and can move things just enough so the next shot no longer matches the previous one. Takes slow, delicate movement.

After several weeks, I finally have my replacment heading my way.
But having to get this thing again and going through the replacment process kinda ruins the excitement I had for it at first. I'll be happy to have a fully working PL, just not as enthusiastic as I once was. I hope I don't have any other PL problems. :monkey3

Where did you find your set of marines? Did you score the hard-to-get Cpl. Hicks too? Great job if you did! :D
