Also, the success of the Pirates series lies solely on Jack Sparrow. Dastan is just an interchangeable action hero, whereas Sparrow was a real original character.

I don't think a film getting slammed by critics means the same thing as 'tanked', which I always believed means that a film makes no money.

To be fair, you should take a look at the Metacritic score for the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels (53 for Dead Man's Chest, 50 for At World's End).

In a critics eye every movie sux except for the select few. I don't think it was the best movie. And I personally never played any of the games but on a movie stand point I wasn't bored and really enjoyed everything the movie had to offer. Take robin hood for example, all star cast but the movie was garbage. But from what I see so far the armor and detail of this figure looks sick and as long as the likeness is there. Wether the movie sucked or not it'll sell quite well. And I can't wait to see how the figure turns out

Fair enough. Rest assured, I'm one of the purists who only really liked the first film; sequel was ok, and the third was a mess.

Speaking of the PC games, the original (back in the early '90s) was great fun, but so violent with the chomping machines and the spike pits.
