I thought the attention it drew to itself was the issue. But 3PO had a silver leg at some point, and I assume it was supposed to imply some recent adventure caused him to lose his arm.
No I'm pretty sure all his panels are sealed up or if they open (I haven't tried) they stay in place a lot better. The panel for the bad motivator is all I know of that opens.
I don't have R5-D4 anymore but I'm pretty sure his panels open up as well and have some of the similar details inside (minus the arms on the rails for those attachments)--they just did a much better job of having the panels not flop open. At least that's how the 2 Imperial droids are. Both have magnetized panels that can be opened with the Luke lightsaber. Out of curiosity I checked the weights again and R2 is 8.13 ounces, R5 (Imperial) is 9.26, and R2-Q5 is 10.2.
You sold your R5? I almost bought it a month or so ago (for not much over $100) based on looking at your old posts about the fig!
In the end the slight undersize thing killed it for me, but R5's a great looking fig.
There's not a logic to high end collecting though. None of these damn things are worth $200. But we buy them anyway.

I will say I don't see why this costs more than Yoda or Rocket Racoon. I mean sure it has lights and sound and some diecast but I wouldn't think those add that much more cost. Plus even if those features add more cost I'd think that there would be a trade off in the fact that R2 is a droid so no clothing to tailor and has no accessories.Yup no denying that it looks good, but for $220....?
Not that good.
True. There's a lot more stuff with the SS R2 but there's no value in it for anybody like me who has never taken a single piece out of the box for display except the figure and the table. But even the table isn't accurate and looks pretty cheap.
I'm much more interested in a tighter looking R2 without the terrible panel seems...and I like the remote controlled lights and sound effects.
Yeh, I haven't taken any accessories out either. It's more from the point of view that the HT set looks stingy in comparison. 20 bucks less MSRP and I would've bit I think.
I guess because it was the "TFA" version they figured they could get away with being stingy. For those that like to have those accessories I can definitely understand the gripe.
