It's slighter taller and fatter than SS version not by much though
I think the metal dome really makes a big difference, and that blue enamel-ish paint looks luscious! I like the slightly larger size too. I wonder if HT have finally gotten the height correct?
Other than OT R2D2, this is the only other astromech droid I want
^Same here.
The colour of the HT R2 body looks perfect to me. I think peoples' concerns about it being too "yellow" are unfounded.
On the left is a real screen-used R2 that I photographed at the Star Wars: Identities exhibition at the O2 Arena in London last Saturday, and on the right is Andrew Whale's in-hand photograph of his HT R2. Looks pretty damn good to me!! Yes, the blue may be a little too light/bright on the HT R2, but I think the white of the body is fine...

there's one ring missing in the "neck" on the original prop!
I've took some pictures of my sideshow version at the side of HT's.
It is better than the SS version ? Yes
but is it £200 pounds better ? probably not but the dome looks really nice with it been metal and it's just better executed than SS one.
You feel abit cheated when you first open the HT's one because that's all there is in the box no weapons,no different heads,no hands, no stands and you feel I've just spent £200 pounds for this.

Pic I found on FB:
Looks great to my eye.
I think a base and backdrop would have helped for those on the fence and arguing to themselves about being "barebones"!!
