Heh! If mine arrives damaged (I HOPE NOT), hopefully there are some replacements left! Worst case scenario: they'll start sending Robocop III as a replacement! AHHH!! In that case, I'll make SSC let me keep the original Robocop box!!

Yes... you got it right and AE will pay for shipping too! :D

From Marc @ AE

We'll cover all new shipping costs. We will need to reimburse you for the cost to ship the figure back to us, but we'll get to that once we get everything lined up with Sideshow.

Awesome pjam, sounds like Marc's got some EXCELLENT customer service there. Still, glad mine was in NEAR-PERFECT condition to save me the hassle of mailing it back from Canada...

Robo finally arrived today, and I don't think I'll be dropping such a large amount of money on Hot Toys products anymore. First, my helmet suffered from more than a small speck of paint damage. But it's still minor enough for me not to go through the hassle of exchanging it. I waited too long.

Second, that head was a pain in the rear to attach!!! :)

Mostly though, I feel a bit underwhelmed considering the price tag. It feels much more fragile than SSC products too. Also, the articulation is lacking in the arms. Some collectors have said that this figure has better articulation than Peter Weller had. Well, that's wrong because this figure can't cross his arms across his chest (e.g. - to load the clip in the gun).

Now, that's not to say it sucks. I do like it, and I'm sure my initial disappointment will fade away over time (much like my feeling toward Anakin, which is now my favorite figure). Plus, he can get some good poses thanks to the ingenious design of the ankle joints, specifically attaching the pistons to springs in order to allow significant movement.

Here are two of the shots I've done so far (one being a Photoshop composite):

Love this shopped shot SL! :D

I'm sorry to hear you feel that way, I think it is the definitive sixth scale Robocop and I can't wait for ED...

Although I have been waiting since I was a kid. :lol

Nice pics... sorry you're not as thrilled with him. But we all like different things. About the construction of the figure. His head is a bear to attach... but I figure that's good since its pretty unlikely it will fall off.

The head on mine popped on easy compared to the Predators. :curse:

The main problem I had with mine was attaching the right leg since I was so afraid of busting the holster in the leg.

I still think this is one of the best figures I've bought in the last few years. :D

Got mine today after a prolonged delay, fairly easy to put together, but I had trouble with the head as well. Trouble with it is you don't want to hold the figure too tightly, or press the head on too hard, for fear of breaking it. Though it does seem rather sturdy overall. I boiled the head for about 45 seconds, let it cool for about 20, and it fit on perfectly.

Love the figure, pretty perfect representation imo. I almost want another! I'm tempted by the Robocop 3, though I think I'll pass in the hopes they do a battle-damaged Robocop1 with a removable helmet, to replicate his appearance in the final scene.

Well, like I said, this feels like my reaction to Anakin, which I initially was sorely disappointed with but now is my favorite. I'm already starting to get better poses with Robo.

The paint error is really unacceptable QC. Anakin's lips may have been the wrong color, but at least they didn't package him before he was frickin' dry!!

The biggest gripe I have with the articulation is that there are several screen shots from the movie that I can't replicate (and was looking forward to replicating).

I'll admit...looking at this makes me want to order ED-209.

I just don't think Robo warrants the price tag. $80 at most (maybe up to $100). But $130 (or worse yet $175-200 on some sites)...no way.

Yeah, let alone to shoot the thug behind him without looking! I was so looking forward to re-enacting the Directive 4 error.:monkey2

That too. I was looking toward re-enacting some of those trick shots he pulled off in the cocaine factory, but alas I can't.

On the bright side, he can still shove a data spike straight into a T-800's power core!!! :D

So I've had him for a couple days now and I have to say I love this figure! I agree it would be nice if he were more poseable, especially for the trick shot poses... but I can't really figure out what they could have added articulation that wouldn't have completely destroyed the sculpt. He seems to be (for me) a great balance of aesthetics and poseability. Also I think that there were a couple different costumes used in the movie dependent on what actions he was taking (but I might just be making that last part up :monkey3 )

One thing I'm really blown away by are the paint apps... they really did a great job of simulating the shades of blue and purple in the armor.

Very sorry to hear about you're troubles Sith Lord. Getting a damaged figure that cost ya over $130, I perfectly do understand your point! It should be perfect. But doesn't this pose compensate the trouble a bit? Looks just awesome! Can't wait to get mine! He should be here next week. And he better be 'perfect'!

You're absolutely right. It does compensate a great deal. So does my Robo vs. Terminator shot from my last post. :D

I'm surprised how well I'm handling it because this was my most wanted figure of the year, how long I had to wait, and how many times it looked like I'd have to give it up due to finances. It does make me appreciate Sideshow more though...half the cost and the screw-ups are much easier to fix (there's no way I can replicate this paint job).

And what a paint job it has!!! I don't know how they did it, but it's superb. Just like the movie.

It's just that I don't think I'll buy very many figures that cost this much in the future. This is the first time I've spent over $100 on a figure, and the cost simply wasn't justified IMO. Especially when I had to cancel Han and Mace to afford Robocop. Time will tell if I keep my USCM Hudson figure on pre-order.

Really, here are all the negatives I see.

1) Careless QC (i.e. - the paint damage that many figures suffered)

2) Lack of ability to do certain film poses (its other poses make this point an easy one to get over)

3) Clamp on stand is way too tight and will leave permanent marks on figure's torso (using Handitak to keep it standing on base instead)

4) The pricepoint vs. actual product.

I know it seems as though I have a lot of complaints about it, but at last, I have my "ultimate" Robocop figure and he has a special place in my collection. I'm happy I have it. Next addition to it will be when McFarlane releases the 3-D "Pop Culture Masterworks" rendition of the theatrical poster.

Forgive the lighting. It's nighttime here, and I was too lazy to turn on my room's main light (just the desk lamp).

And that shot right there is why I'm happy with it. For all its shortcomings (no figure is perfect...although Obi-Wan may set a new bar), it can do some weird poses thanks to those ankle joints. The springs on the pistons are the best feature by far. THAT is the engineering marvel of the figure...not the holster. :)

I'm looking forward to adding to these libraries:

Two more modified movie stills. I love the cocaine factory one. The smoky air came out so much better than I expected. It reminds me of the promo shot for NECA's 18 inch Robocop.

Thanks for the compliments, Chase. The Robo vs. Endo at the gas station was my first RvT pic...a test to see how the two would look together, what techniques I'd need to use and/or learn. The data spike pic came second once I had my feet wet and a better handle on the subjects.

Unfortunately, NECA's 18 inch Endo isn't very poseable, and trying to articulate anything in the legs is next to impossible. So I doubt I'll be able to do many more pics with that. :(

And I was right about my gut reaction to Robocop...it was just like Anakin. I'm at the point where I can look past the flaws, and this figure is now one of my favorites. A very cool figure that I'm happy to have been able to buy. Yeah, it was overpriced, but at least it's not Medicom-level pricing!!!

Also, a tip for other Robo owners: If you're worried about using the metal clamp on the figure stand (it WILL leave deep marks on the rubber torso), you can use HandiTAK (it's cheap and available at Wal-Mart) as long as you have a predominantly straight-up standing pose. Attach some TAK to the front and rear bottoms of both feet and press down onto the base. I've had mine like that for over 16 hours now, and it's still standing.

As a point of reference for "doable" posing, this is Robocop about 10 hours into using the stuff:

Thanks for the tip Sith Lord! I had the clamp on for about 10 seconds and saw that it was really pinching the rubber section of the torso, so I took it off. HandiTAK on the feet is a cool idea...especially since I don't want to pose Robo, and come home from work to see he's taken the old "shelf-dive" and chipped/scuffed that wonderful paint-job on the helmet!

P.S., your 'action' shots look AWESOME! Great work man...
