Aw man that sucks Pjam... I just ordered mine from them as well, hopefully they didn't get a shipment of bum figures.

It kinda looks like the headsculpt underneath was just included to make the helmeted head look better, but not displayed. He's pretty pin-headed (probably to accomdate the helmet) and I saw in another pictures somewhere that there is pretty much no detail on the back of his head.

Yeah, sorry to hear that pjam. My Robo arrives tomorrow, and I also got mine from Marc at Alter Ego...I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my Robo helmet doesn't suffer from the 'sticking to the tray' syndrome, since I'm in Canada, it already cost me $25 in s&h and an additional $25 in customs/duties and might be a little trickier for Marc to ship me a replacement...

Well guys, I received my HT Robocop today from Alter Ego in a near mint box and when I unpackaged him I found his head was apparently glued/stuck to the back of the black head tray section.

pjam, my Robocop head has a problem as well, but not to the same extent as yours. On mine the paint on both sides of the head are kinda worn/buffed away showing a surface flaw. I think that the way the head is pakaged is a problem. I'm bummed as well as I would have liked to have him assembled. Fortunately I found this problem before assembly.

Thanks guys, yeah bummer after waiting for so long but it is a GREAT piece and you will love it. Actually the silver paint was "pulled" off the helmet leaving gouges in a ring band across the helmet, it's far worse in person... basically the entire paint loss is in the head tray.

But I'm sure it'll be resolved. I'll keep you posted. At least you can tell how amazing the paint finish is on the chest plate, really impressive. :D

hm, you could probably just paint some silver paint over it if you don't want to complicate things, but then, repainting over could be a complication?
just get some silver acrylic ($2) and paint over.
usually if I get some slight defect in a item, but the item is really nice, I can't help but just "shrug it off", haha....ha... ha..?:lol

Thanks sunohc but this is a super hi-gloss metallic flake finish, really hard to match and the gouges are kinda deep, the paint was literally ripped out and it would never be a smoothed over consistent finish, so important to this figure.

No, it would have to be sanded, repainted, etc. I think Marc will prolly just send a replacement head or whatever. I'll keep you guys posted b/c mook said a few guys had this happen to them too...

My problem is much slighter than pjam's but the problem with fixing any surface paint flaw with Robo is that he's not just silver, but silver with a bluish tinge/layer. Guessing from the way the paint looks on the scuffed parts of my figure, it seems that the entire body was sprayed silver then gone over again with a translucent blue paint. To me, very difficult to replicate.

This is no fault of Alter Ego, this is an obvious HT Factory defect in that the head paint was probably not completely dried and stuck to the black plastic tray. Unfortunately a ring of paint was removed from the back of his head and left in the tray as you can see from this pic I snapped. The actual ring of removed paint is larger than the pic shows and runs across the entire back of the helmet.

The rest of the figure looks great but you need to watch out for the leg/calf springs as well as they seem to want to remove themselves from their sockets. I also peeked under the helmet and saw a fully sculpted/painted face up there.

Anyway I wrote Marc and I'm sure we'll work something out but I am clearly bumming right now. :monkey4

That bodes well for the rest of us who bought through a reputable dealer. Do you know if you have to return the whole item or just the head?

From Marc at Alter Ego:

We've heard from a number of customers with simliar Robocop Head issues, and we're in the process of inspecting the rest of our inventory to see if we have any replacements to send out.

Please bear with us for a day or two while we check things over and I'll follow up with you by early next week.

Seems HT didn't allow the heads to properly dry before setting them in the tray, hopefully it will be resolved soon...

Mine should be here on Wednesday... here's to hoping for an on-time delivery and a undamaged paint job

Just got mine today...the head and left leg were difficult to put together but the fig is amazing. I can't wait for ED-209, I just hope ED will be easier to put together...

Anyone know if a 1/6 scale Detroit/OCP police squad car was ever available? It would be cool to display with Robo...

I looked on eBay for a 1/6 scale Ford Taurus, but the only scale I saw on there was 1/24.

The head and limbs are connected with "dogbone" connectors. The arms rotate nicely and shift around somewhat, but any lateral movement in the legs you'd expect to get are negated by the tight-fitting rubber trunk piece. The package illustrations cheat a wider stance somewhat by having the leg not seated fully into the trunk. With some careful twisting, you may be able to get a wider stance by a quarter-inch. Below is a diagram of what I could decipher about the figure:

"Ancient Chinese secret!":D

Actually, radial blur was applied to a separately photographed gun, and the thumb was grafted on from another separate shot. The background was captured from the dvd.
Super Poseable, I have to thank you for going out of your way for posting that diagram of HT Robocop's articulation. Makes me want one even more.

This figure is one of my favorites I've gotten this year. :D

If you're still on the fence about getting it, don't delay. You'll regret it.

I can't believe how well made this figure is. I wasn't too thrilled with him until I got it in my hands. Now he's probably my favorite non-SS figure.

Hot Toys IMO is really making Medicom, SS, and all the other 1/6 companies looking pretty bad. Their figures have all been great so far this year.
