Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Thx, PCK.
That´s my second, an exchange and he´s good cause I applied Liqui Moly, a german car rubber care product.
A rub over all pieces every 2 months and he´s good.
Unpacked him yesterday and nothing. Really happy.

I haven't popped into the ED thread in a while but I want to see how everyone is making out. I remember people were talking about a Honda grease. I've never used the grease and I've yet to have a problem, but I guess I better start before it's too late

I used the Honda grease, no issues with my Ed
That's not saying the grease prevented anything, I used it just in case

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Is anyone able to make this Murphy HS in 1/4 so that it fits the EB one? Has anyone done it? How much am I looking to have someone do that for me realistically?

I flushed the Burke one down the toilet a while back, so....

You absolutely should, dude.
I used it directly as a precaution and because I waited too long I have teeny-tiny crack on the front, but it´s not visible if he´s lubricated, shiny and all.
So...you got he 2 options of sealing, or lubricating:
Sealing: Mod Podge, which keeps it flexible strangely enough.
Lubricating: Honda grease, mine...whatever.

Just make sure it´s not silicon based.

Same with me and if I hadn´t done that, my 2nd ED would be gone. :(
But I really love him. He´s probably my fav in my collection now.

Excellent display Endo. you should add another Robocop and have him mid-damaged (post ED battle/SWAT team attack) look and that would be you complete. Although having them posed with no stands makes me nervous a little. :(

Thx, Sid.
I have the looks I love, more isn´t important to me.
Clarence would be awesome and THEN it would be complete, but now I´ll only do palettes and a drum for BD Murphy and that´s it.
Yeah, I know. Eisselmann said the same, but all perfectly balanced.
Tested it long term how all stand.
:)

Here are a few shots of my helmeted, post-ED209 Robocop. The helmet is weathered to match the rest of the body. Was too cheap to buy another head/neck/collar off eBay, so I made casts of these parts from the original. They're cast in black resin and also weathered to match the black abdomen and hands.

I first saw Robocop when i was ten years old, and i *never* before saw the similarities between Murphy's body armour and Robocop's body before. Never realised how similar they look.
Thanks for posting that pic!

Yeah I think RoBo's armour is a nod to Murphy's body armour.
Also maybe just a coincidence but the hand that Boddicker blasts off Murphy is the same hand Robo uses to impale Boddicker with.

Are you guys lubing and sealing or is the grease alone enough?

I know it's been posted several times in the ED thread but if one of you guys can post the Honda one of choice and save me the trouble to go digging for it, I'd appreciate it

Agreed Endo! I guess it's easy for me to say because mine is issue free but ED is such a sick piece. Thank God I got lucky with mine and I'm able to enjoy it to the fullest

That "post ED" version looks great. I think it's worth getting a helmeted head repainted for that look

Nice display :clap

My little 2 cents on this set.. Got it 2 weeks ago and i love this set its beautiful. Like the battledamaged Robocop i think the headsculpt is dead on. What really impressed me is the Alex Murphy figure he just looks perfect in his armored cop outfit and couldn't be happier with him they nailed it.

Great display too! :clap

Hey PCK,

Here's a link to the correct grease.
Amazon.com: Honda Genuine Shin-Etsu Grease: Automotive

You can probably find a better deal, but this is what you'll want to get. And don't use both a sealer and grease; it's either one or the other. General consensus is use sealer if there are signs of cracking, grease if the dome is still pristine. I used the Honda grease on mine. I applied a super thick layer, let it sit on the dome for a week, wiped off the excess and have not had to reapply any since. That was probably close to a year ago and I've had no issues. Again, I can't say if I was just lucky or if the silicone grease actually prevented anything, but I can say that I haven't read any reports of damage AFTER the grease or sealers have been applied.

And thanks for liking my Post-Ed robo :) I'm pretty happy with how he turned out!
