Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Yeah all credit to the directors and studios back in the day who had the balls to put so much graphic violence in their movies, not like today when you feel all the studios are worried about is getting past the age rating system. So as many people as possible can get into the movie and not offend mothers of 3 year olds etc.

My heart sank a little when it was revealed Mad Max Furry Road, was 15 cert. :(
Still looks a great movie.

Max Max cannot be anything like as poor as the Robocop reboot. Wow that was shocking.

Still haven't seen RubberSchlep 2014 yet.

..& no immediate plans to either.. :lol

Probably best you don't, 90 minutes you'll never get back and a sour taste you can only remove by watching the original film shortly afterwards.

It's a funny one. Keaton's in it, SLJ's in it - even Sweet Pea's in it!!! :lol

Means nothing in the end..

There's far worse films than that. Robocop 3 for example. I might even say 2 but I know that'd outrage some people here...oh wait..I kinda just did....:monkey3

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

I watched RC2 again a few months ago - crap.

Cain was ok I guess, but that's it. Little Harry Connick Jnr (crime boss kid) made Jake Lloyd look like Marlon Brando.

Isn't Jill Hennessy in RC3? What a lady..

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

I wasn't sure who that was so I googled her and yes she apparently played 'Dr Lazarus' in Robocop 3.....I'm also not sure who that character was :lol

Jill looks very nice indeed though.

-edit - 46? She looks too young to have played an adult character in Robocop 3 :lol

Can't say I disagree re: Robocop 2. Haven't seen it in well over 10 years, I think there's a reason for that. Starting with that god-awful soundtrack. Better than Robocop 3, but just about every film in existence is better than Robocop 3.

Yeah man, I always thought she'd make a sensational Wonder Woman - too old now.

I should also add re. RC2, that although it was a valiant effort on Mr Weller's part.. he couldn't save that ship from drowning.

That said, I know the film has it's fans, so that's cool I guess.

Totally agreed on the score for 2, man it was crap. Sounded more fitting for TV than a movie. TV gets good music now but back then it never did.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Peter Weller WAS.. RoboCop.

Why they bothered after RC2 shows how deluded money gluttons are, sometimes.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Mad Max hmm. Right well my argument immediately falls down then I must admit. I have no particular attachment to Mad Max at all. Similarly those who didn't watch Indiana Jones in their youth or who weren't born till later won't really care if Indiana Jones is recast and could easily warm to a new actor in the role...or even *gulp* prefer the new actor.

So the feckers might get away with it. But they have to make good films at least. Robocop 3 decidedly wasn't a good film. It's looking like Mad Max Fury Road might be though.....

Orion were pretty desperate at that point, pitty they decided to use one of the greatest action films as a scapegoat to try and get people in theaters and ultimately went completely t**s up after that. You cannot take an R/18 rated movie and turn it into a PG/15 with success, the only thing you're going to get is ridiculed and a big hole in your bank.

As for recasting the lead character, nope.

So it looks like limited head articulation . . . the head looks fused to the neck top. I wonder if he can look up?

And there is no diecast in this version? And no sound chip?
(Apparently there was barely any diecast in the previous version.)

The weathering effects look toned down from the pre-order proto pics, and I hope this is NOT the case.

I pre-ordered this bad boy specifically because of the battle damage and grime.

The Iron Man Igor had that fate: wicked weathering in the proto pics but a watered-down and weak final product. :gah:

I don't even want to think about that...

Just my two cents on RC2, I enjoyed the movie more as a comedy than anything else. But I agree about the score, very weak without any of the cues from Poledouris' original.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Hard to tell if it looks any different, the image posted above is from October 2014 and the "Upcoming Releases" photo is too small to be able to pick out any defects. As someone said earlier, the fact there's no diecast or electronics in this means they paid big time for Peter Weller's likeness (hence the price) OR they're greedy... probably both.

I shall await the upcoming photos of the production model and hope it turns out fine. Either way, keeping my PO for this. :)

Man, this figure is on my short list - no doubt about it.

Just doze damn fundzzzzz... :monkey4
