^That's pretty cool, username! Thanks a lot for posting that. A couple quick questions: does that stuff dry and set after applying? Or does it rub off easily or have to be sealed?

It can be rubbed off if you don't like the effect. Or if you like it, you could seal it on.
There are a few different sets and with a bit of thoughtful application, you can get some subtle effects. Or some major tarnishing, lol.

Yea I missed the $350 shipped on Amazon from a Japan seller but I'm sure we will catch a deal during the holiday sales worst case I'll just throw RP at it on sideshow.

I'd just leave it as is. How often are you going to pick it up by the head?

Probably never But still, I don't want to worry about smudging the finish anytime I touch the head to pose or dust off the figure. If there was a way to make the effect more durable or even permanent, I'd pick up a set today. Anyway, thanks again for the info. I'll keep reading more about it to see what can be done.

You could dust it with a few light coats of sealer spray. But it would be better to test that out on something else before trying it on the Robo head.

I know a lot of cool HT figs have come out this year but for me this set is #1 2015 Hot Toys. I would of gone for Marty but imo the sculpt was not quite there.

Hey PCK,

Here's a link to the correct grease.
Amazon.com: Honda Genuine Shin-Etsu Grease: Automotive

You can probably find a better deal, but this is what you'll want to get. And don't use both a sealer and grease; it's either one or the other. General consensus is use sealer if there are signs of cracking, grease if the dome is still pristine. I used the Honda grease on mine. I applied a super thick layer, let it sit on the dome for a week, wiped off the excess and have not had to reapply any since. That was probably close to a year ago and I've had no issues. Again, I can't say if I was just lucky or if the silicone grease actually prevented anything, but I can say that I haven't read any reports of damage AFTER the grease or sealers have been applied.

And thanks for liking my Post-Ed robo I'm pretty happy with how he turned out!

Thx, dude. But keep in mind, deterioration can always happen.
For me, only lubing works great.

Just got mine too (2 figures set)!
Such an impressive piece by Hot Toys.

I'm still on the fence with the clean Robo. Color is definitely not what I expected but a repaint is possible but at what cost?

Wasn't sure if I wanted two Robocops in my collection but damn, having got this a few days back in sure as hell glad I got it. The detail and face sculpt is amazing, has such great shelf presence.
