Hot Toys ROTJ Emperor Palpatine

Having a hard time seeing HT offering the throne for less than $150. Back in 2010, SSC offered theirs at $140 so i'm probably very generous. Packed with Palpatine, we're certainly looking at something around $400. I'd venture a guess and say Guards will retail at $220 a piece ($400 for a 2-Pack). So, grand total should be more like $800+

Yes, I concur. Could be right that $200 may be the lower end for HT these days. (I was probably unconsciously thinking in Euro with 185). All the more reason for me to only get the one guard. For once limited space is useful !

Either way these two (or 3) are a must have. Those red Imperial Guards look so great on display !!

Only 2 more weeks to Force Friday, until I get disappointed that they don't get announced......

I really hope hey retool the Harris sculpt - damn it I cannot get that outta my head - but I will most likely get this since I mainly collect the Imperials and how I missed out on the SSC version. Also I feel that sometime after his release there'll be a couple custom head sculpts as they did with Han.

I think the fact that we didn't see the emperor yet is because he's in early development staged. See it as a preview of what is coming. Remember ANH Vader? The prototype sculpt was terrible but the final product was the best Vader sculpt that is out there as it was spot on. Hot toys does have some misses but I think the end product will be fine. Just sit back and have some patience.

I have faith they'll get there. Just wish they'd do it sooner rather than later. Maybe Force Friday. Maybe not.

Agreed. The pic above looks like the Emperor, but not the figure so far.

Let's not forget, we've only seen him at cons so far and even then, paint has looked almost unfinished, I don't think it's worth panic until official photos post and we see what they're selling, at that point, likelihood of tweaks before shipping exist but are lesser, but at this point it's basically a WIP.

The last time I recall a major tweak on a HT sculpt was their t1000 from T2. First pic looked like the stunt guy. When released, the sculpt looked good. Can't recall anything that major since, and that was years ago now. Not sure.

Most HT portraits are on point these days and only require slight adjustments but I do believe it's common to see those slight adjustments made.

At the time of T2 HT was frequently doing full revisions like their Marcus Wright.

Lighting makes a huge difference, but he just looks happy, not maniacal.

Probably the closest thing this sculpt comes to, but still doesn't look mad with power enough, and this is not a look to sum up the character with. There clearly was a closed mouth sculpt in the Luke pics, so hopefully this is a multiple portrait figure, though knowing HT, Palpatine by himself will be the silly smile, and the perfect neutral head will only come in the pack with the throne that costs even more, just like how the deluxe Hulk was the only way to get the better of the two heads he came with.

At first I thought the cheeks were too prominent, but now I think his jaw is just too squared. If they fix that, I'll be more than happy with it.
