Come on HT makes the sculpt right, folks here are dying to donate ~$700 for that inevitable 3 pack Emperor with 2 Red Guards .

Everything is so perfect with this figure -- robe material, futzing, even the skin texture -- but its all brought to a screeching halt with that doofus 'birthday' grin.

'Awkward yearbook picture' was a perfect description.

Isn't a very good expression though I think for merely sitting on his throne.

I just cannot NOT see Ed Harris/Hugh Hefner in that sculpt after someone mentioning that.
Definately the eyes and jaw are off quite a bit.

That was intended for sure, but the end result is not near that.

The sculpt looks more like the ROTS Emperor due to the forehead. This needs some work before release, doesn't pass muster as is.

He just needs more "evil" added. However you do that. HT should look at the other KB sculpt perhaps.

For me this release has to come with two headsculpts, the angry teeth bearing face for force lightning pose, like the original side show exclusive release had! Otherwise for me it's an easy pass. I kinda regret selling my sideshow one now foolishly expecting this to be flawless!

I just dug out my old sideshow ones, the angry face is still acceptable if you can manage to get the robe around the sides of his face. The regular head is kind of meh, but not much worse than what hot toys has shown. The hot toys hands are 'hands down' (sorry) better.

Paint makes quite a difference.

He still needs those indented rings under his eyes to be sculpted in. It can't be accomplished with paint only. Without those rings he just doesn't have the ROTJ look.

They made his his too wide. The chin itself is too wide and missing the wrinkles on the sides framing the chin more.

I concur. Never seen an his so ridiculously wide on a HT figure before.
