That silly flying buzz-droid will remain forever in the box.... ruins any classic Star Wars display.

Besides that, its horribly underscale.

I don't know what's up with HT and these droid extras. Vader's interrogation droid is closest to correct but still small, the Sandtrooper droid is way too small and the mouse droid is also a little underscale.

You'll notice each release gets a little more undersized. Mouse droid, about 9/10 size. Interegation droid, about half size. WTF Prequel addition droid, about quarter the size. Hot Toys are doing this on purpose as part of a stealth marketing campaign leading up to the announcement of their "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids" licence annoncement.

Personally I think articulation would ruin the Dewback. HT would probably cover it in rubber and then just like ED-209 or Gamorra it would crack or be ripped to pieces. The only thing that could be improved on SSC's is maybe the paint and some small details with the accessories. Really I think what they did is about perfect. If I ever get the free space I'd pick one up in an instant.

Hmmm, knew the interrogation droid was too small (mouse looks about right to me) but interesting about the buzz droid. Like you say, though, it's no loss... There's just nothing about the design that screams Star Wars. I can live with the interrogation droid because it's just such a great design and I can't say I ever expected to see it in 1:6 at all.

Good point on the articulation....it'd be tough

:lol

I think HT is simply scaling the extra droids to their head sculpt scale. Ooops, no I didn't.....

I hope they don't do a dewback just so I don't have to buy it. I just got the taun taun in the mail today and I can't believe the size of the box.

If HT does a Dewback, would they go more articulated figure route? Not sure I'd get one of this big lizards, but I can see it being done awesomely by them

An articulated Dewback would be awesome. I didn't love Sideshow's Dewback or Taun because they were rigid statues that are supposed to work with fully articulated figures. That and the fact that both pieces had the exact same "T-Rex" type feet and both were equally wrong.:wink1:

Although there was never a doubt I'd be buying a copy, I wasn't 100% sure about the helmet until now. Thanks for this.

Re: Budget Stark - "First Look" Sandtrooper prototype on display at Secret Base

I thought the Droid look a little small.

When this hits the EU distributors I'm in.

That SE droid takes away my wood.

Just put it back in its box. But this was one of the few good things SE had anyway.

I need to know if all ranks are coming. Grey/Black/White.

There was no gray Sandtrooper pauldron in SW.

If these are $175 US in China, why do they cost so much more in the USA? Doesn't Sideshow get them for distributer price in the first place? Are they getting them for say $100 then adding the $25 for being the distributer and then another $50 just for the heck of it and then another $50 for also serving as a direct retailer?

I don't mean to criticize them or anything I'm just wondering if that is what's happening and if it costs less to order from China.

Welcome to the international world of collectors ;)

Interestingly, on the Asmus horses thread people wanted a fixed horse instead of an articulated figure. :lol

Re: Budget Stark - "First Look" Sandtrooper prototype on display at Secret Base

I'm gonna display the droid just to spread around some SE love.

We miss you, George.

What's the little back box that's in between the spare hands and the extra guns?

I can't imagine how they could replicate reptile skin with seamless articulation. Closest they could get is something Hulk-like with a bunch of seams and joints all over the place. It would look like garbage even at $600.
