It's the noticable bump on the bottom of the stunt Stormtrooper's left (if facing the viewer) 'eye'. Always found it annoying once I noticed it. Not sure if that is a feature of all stunts or only some, though.

Edit: Just checked some reference shots and looks like it was a feature of all of them. See what you mean about the frown, though. Like that HT gave us a mix then on the Sandtrooper. Getting rid of the asymmetrical eyes but keeping the longer frown of the stunt. Also like that they kept the hero for the Stormtrooper, since it differentiates the two soldiers.

I know about the right eye bump (though didn't know the term sty for it), and it is a cool part of prop/helmet history. Gentle Giant recreated this on their mini-bust, and that is one of the most accurate scaled Stormies. But personally I don't think it is necessary to add it on a 1/6 figure. On a larger one it is cool, but on 1/6 not necessary. Though the big Stunt frown is very cool and more menacing than the Hero one.

Referring to the frown, definitely makes me glad I caved on getting the Sandtrooper, as it is a very noticeable difference between the two (aside from the weathering/gear) and something I'll enjoy on display.

Don't think there have been any pics of him for a while.

The last ones were from SDCC if I remember correctly. Sometimes I wonder how they decide what to display at these things. Seems a bit weird to display the pretty much sold old Stormtroopers and not the coming Sandtrooper.

I always felt like if there was one stormtrooper to get this is the one (weathered, has all sorts of gear, and just looks awesome). The plus side too with sandtroopers is you don't have to see their incompetence onscreen. You know they're ruthless after they gun down all those Jawas (and stage it to look like Tuskens). Stormtroopers were menacing for the Tantive IV sequence, but made themselves seem like pretty terrible soldiers thereafter.

Yup, that pretty much sums it up. Stormtroopers are rarely seen engaging with anyone other than the main heroes, which they cannot kill, for obvious reasons. Whenever they do face nameless rebels, the rebels are in trouble. The only frustrating part is the Ewoks, but the Ewoks in general are a giant wtf.

I'm hoping, without Luke and the gang, we'll see original era Stormtroopers able to show off how dangerous and dreaded the Imperial troops were supposed to be in Rogue One.

You always hear vets from the Army, Navy , and Marines make fun of the Air Force. Wonder if this is the SW equivalent?

Actually, to put the theories and debates to rest I have the definitive answer. Stormtroopers can't shoot or kill anyone because the monkey around too much. And before anyone says that this is a First Order Stormtrooper, the First Order has obviously inherited their troops from the Empire.

I'd be so much more excited about this Sandtrooper if he had a couple of compatriots with different colored pauldrons and different accessories.

I've already got a scene planned out for him and it isn't going to work very well if he's outnumbered by Tusken Raiders. :)
