Assuming that the market keeps going as it is, I would agree, but I think this will be relatively temporary. Also, it hasn't seemed to affect the sale of the already outrageously overpriced Sideshow/Hot Toys stuff recently. . .

Trend could be starting though. I'm more selective now. I'd have gotten every HT Terminator figure from the new movie at one point, now it's just too pricey if I'm not that into the figure.

Even with Sideshow, I may be cancelling Utapau just to save for a Clone configuration I like more.

I hope more people do this. If people stop buying for that price, they will stop selling for that price. Sideshow, etc. can't really be blamed for jacking their prices up if people keep paying it, though.

Not at all. I just wanted to guage peopple's opinions in a DISCUSSION BOARD. Scan back through the thread and check my post that I did not intend for this to be an Sideshow bashing thread.

I'm not blaming you, per say, just saying that every time one of these stupid "Do you wish HT would take over..." threads, inevitably, it leads to a bunch of people bashing Sideshow's products as we've already seen in the first several pages.

It's like trying to watch Dane Cook do comedy.

I had a similar thought seeing Medicom's $180 Zach Braff in Han Solo disguise.

Maybe you're like a spectator that doesn't care about ticket prices because you watch from tv anyway.

Clone Obi (unless the trigger was pulled last night) is a perfect example.

I think 3 companies might be too much, but I think if Medicom's license went to HT they and SSC can coexist fine.

I'm not sure how long SSC's license with Hasbro lasts, but doesn't Hasbro have the SW license until 2018 or something?

So perhaps after that.

But IMO, the best of both worlds would be as a poster above suggested and HT and SSC collaborate on characters such as Grevious or Chewbacca and on vehicles.

It is not up to me if people decide to bash SSC in my thread. I merely wanted other peoples opinions on the possibilities of HT SW figs and also if they would be desired.

I think some collectors desire it, some don't, but I think everyone at Hasbro and LFL would know it would be a terrible mistake and be against the grain of their cashcow business model. So it won't happen for several more years at least and only if SSC decides it doesn't have anything else to offer.

I think most people would like to see Hot Toys Star Wars figures, but not see HT as the sole license holder for SW 1/6. Getting some figures made at HT's level would be great and I think most would enjoy that, but having the SSC license remain also allows affordable collection building.

The best option for everyone is collaboration. Maybe some folks will be bummed they don't get HT level Han or whatever, but at least we'd all get a fuller, broader, better collection.

I would like to see Hot Toys getting selected SW characters that I know SSC are going to have a hard time bringing to us (Grievous, the droids, Yoda, come to mind) but other than those select ones I'd rather pay under $100 than over $150.

I'll disagree to some extent with you MaulFan. I don't think most people would want HT figures only because most people don't want to pay HT prices.

As an example, I'm willing to bet that HT's Planet of the Apes figures don't sell as much as SSCs even though they are light years ahead in terms of quality.

I think its wrong to think that a vocal group of people willing to shell out $140 for figures accurately represents a majority of collectors.

Speaking for myself, Hot Toys are damn awesome to look at, but I just can't justify spending the prices. I own 1 HT product, the Jack Sparrow, and its nice, but I don't get 2x the appreciation for it than my SSC figures.

Just because HT's figures are generally more expensive does not mean they don't produce more value than SSC's barebones figs (which are now pushing $100 themselves).

Well...IMO its debatable on generic figures what you'll get for the money.

I agree 100% that SSC is overpricing their generic figures but that doesn't mean to get a boost in quality on some figures that generic figures should be overpriced too.

I'll agree with others that say they'd like to see HT cover the hard ones and SSC cover the easy ones. Otherwise, I'd be fine with HT if they decreased their prices by 40%-50% on generic figs.

Good points, except you're addressing strawmen because no one has come in and said HT couldn't improve on SSC. Its about the money and how it doesn't grow on trees for most of us.
